The models slowly backed off the big solutions for us March 2001. It was a slow let down. Areas west of NYC were forecasted for 2-3 feet for Juno even at the onset of snow. It's without a doubt the biggest bust I've ever experienced and I hate talking about it.
So I’m sure saying that the “6z and 18z is less than useless” is a bit intentionally hyperbolic but even if the skill is lower than the other run times I think disparaging it is a bit silly, all things considered.
The major shift in the 18z GFS from 12z is a reminder how important it is that the energy in the southwest properly phases.
