  1. 28 for the high after a low of 14.9 I have been using the Windy.com website for weather forecast plots for the past couple months. During the cold stretch, I have been comparing the GFS, ECMWF, and the ICON for highs & lows during the cold stretch. ECMWF and the GFS has usually been 3-5 degrees too cold for the highs and lows while the ICON has been more accurate and usually only 1-2 degrees off.
  2. Agreed. Often people forget that in many areas schools provide free breakfasts and lunches that kids are likely missing out with schools being closed. Below is a picture from in front of Riviera Beach Elementary from this afternoon. I was surprised that Anne Arundel hasn’t prioritized the clearing of roads in front of and around the school especially since this is only a walking school (except prek and kindergarteners).
  3. 11 for the low. No single digits this week.
  4. 23.9 for the high. Kinda surprised at the lack of ice coverage on the Patapsco River and the Chesapeake Bay along the western shore.
  5. Really should have gotten into the snow removal business with this storm. On a few local Facebook groups, people are making $200+ to clear home sidewalks/driveways.
  6. 24.8 for the high. Bright sunshine today made it feel warmer.
  7. I was wrong. My street and route was luckily plowed going out to the main roads. Took a detour throughout the neighborhood and many side streets were still not plowed as of 430. Usually the county gets good contractors but seems the ones this year aren't great. Still haven't seen any county plows around at all.
  8. Surprised at how good the roads in Pasadena are. Side streets are snow packed but very manageable and main roads are blacktop and dried out.
  9. Very light glaze on railings & powerlines. Trees didn't really look like they accumulated much but hard to tell in the dark. Glad its minimal because I like power!
  10. Still pouring sleet out there. 20.6 degrees. Suprised how much wind there is today, especially near the water. Wasn't expecting that.
  11. Looking forward to some icy creeks/rivers. Hopefully we have some less windy days to get the drone out.
  12. 18.3. Guidance is kinda all over the place for Northern Anne Arundel. It seems that most models show at least 6 inches but our area is so used to the usual dry slot or mixing line coming earlier.
  13. The grocery store runs have been crazy this week. Seemed to have started Tuesday and just never let up all week. The 2 local gas stations yesterday even had lines too. Businesses have made some money this week!
  14. My last bill wasn't too bad. I think just $50 more compared to some really high bills people are getting. We are on oil heat which helps offset BGE bill but already had too fill up twice this winter.
  15. Might have been post before, while not a State of Emergency but Governor Moore Declares State of Preparedness Ahead of Winter Weather System https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02tiPpCKwnZqR429arXuc9DwiQGpr84zeVoiSkVR8VKhB1YXZ2NdhhdUttjafGxDUvl&id=100064747803974
  16. Legit snow falling. Nothing sticking but was a beautiful time for a hike in the woods.
  17. Currently 19.4 after a midnight high of 36.5
  18. 38 degrees. Seems familiar to most of our snowstorms!
  19. Beautiful day at Blackwater NWR near Cambridge. I was surprised to see so much ice buildup in the ponds, river, and the watery areas of the marsh.
