Another stunning deep winter morning here in the lowlands. The snowpack is still in good shape. Today it will take another beating and I'm sure south facing hills will have grass showing by this evening but it looks like another week with snowpack. Long range is a snoozer so hopefully the cold materializes this time.
12" on the season as of today.
I received an inch in about 15 minutes from the thundersnow storm.
I received 9.5" from the storm on the 6th of January.
I received 1.5" of snow from the Little Weekend Thing.
After a few more MECS and the final boss in Feb, I hope to rival 2010 lol
23 in my yard on this glorious winter morning. Yesterday morning I did a 5 mile hike. I started at daybreak and was done about 10:30. It was bordering on magical level 10. This past week has cemented a "great winter" in my book regardless of what happens from here on out. I'm 5" from climo.
I haven't measured but it looks like 1.5-2". It's beautiful. The trees are covered and the snowpack looks fresh and clean. I'm headed out to get some pictures and get a hike in .
Absolutely beautiful out there. Just about an inch and still snowing. Snow on snow on snow in parts of my yard. This is my third snow event in a row without any rain. Great season shaping up here in the lowlands.
I'm planning on getting up super early and getting out at day break here in my area. I couldn't get out to the west end of Wye Island yesterday due to drifts. It was beautiful though.
Or a nice joint with some homemade, from the garden, hash in it lol. I think today I'll day hike. Anyone in the Crownsville area wants to join me it's cool.
Man... before the days of the internet I thought i was the only sicko that enjoyed dark, gray, white ground and early sunsets. Nope. Here we all are together like a furry convention lol
I see no change from a few days ago. Models seem to have done pretty good. It still looks like a 1-2" deal east and south east of 95. I'd lean more towards flurries for the NW crew. Looks like high clouds are already moving in. Hopefully clouds hold temps down today.
This definitely hasn't been the cold outbreak it looked like a couple weeks ago. My coldest low is this morning at 20. The daytime highs over perform as well. I'm not complaining, just not what I was expecting with snowcover.
It was wild on Wye Island today. The road on the island was blocked by drifts. The local farmer was trying to clear the road with a dozer. It looked more like North Dakota than Wye Island.
You made my day! That brings back a lot of good memories from my teenage years. That was a few years after the blizzard of 96 and the follow up 6" from a clipper.
