  1. It will never get that bad in 5 years but it is getting harder and harder getting snow in the southeast.
  2. A lot needs to go right for a snowstorm in the southeast. We have none of that now.
  3. The long range always looks good until it actually happens.
  4. It is certainly something to keep an eye on. Temps are going to be too warm for any significant snow even if it is snow.
  5. The operational 00Z GFS is garbage for us now outside of 7 days when it was looking so promising. It's starting to look like last year all over again. Maybe we get a little snow with the ULL swinging through in 7 days.
  6. Got down to 19.8 IMBY. Newport News was 19 this morning. Norfolk was 30. Their themometer must be on the water and on the tarmac.
  7. 23.9 imby and going to bed. Probably will hit 22.
  8. I finally got a weather station for my backyard. Currenntly down to 28.8 in yorktown, va. Coldest of the season.
  9. First freeze of the season last night. Newport news intl got down to 28.
  10. We have had some power outages here in SEVA. Newport News Intl top wind gust has been 39 MPH so far.
  11. A lot of rain. That's about it.
  12. The weird thing about it is that it was only on the ground for 5 minutes. The damage looks isolated to one 300 yard stretch where all the roofs are blown off to well constructed houses.
  13. High of 50 today, currently 45 in Newport News.
  14. GFS showing a hard freeze April 10-14. I was dreading another cold snap since I already planted my tomatoes.
  15. 24F at Newport News Intl March 21. This broke the old record low of 25 degrees.
  16. Low of 31 last night. Forecast low of 29 tonight. Not uncommon for mid-March.
  17. And by the time the storm actually hits, Mt. Mitchell will be the only location reporting snow.
  18. Too warm for snow, too cold for comfort. It is the worst combination we thought would happen.
  19. Too damn windy. Gusts up to 35-40. My trash and recycle toters were blown down into my driveway.
  20. I just walked outside and flurries were falling. My weather station is reading 46 degrees!
  21. Surprisingly, not the warmest February at Richmond or Norfolk, but in the top 5.
