That's all Campbell Co, Scott border is about 7 miles west. That exit has just boomed for the city of Caryville. Those hotels stay booked year round for ATV tourism.
I can be at exit 141 in about 10 minutes on an ATV.
You are correct!! I call that exit the Scott Co exit......even though I know that’s wrong. Just like I still call it Lake City instead of Rocky Top!! Pretty area up there......you are very lucky to live in that area.

Actually you were close to my house most likely if you were on the Royal Blue/North Cumberland WMA.
Yep!! We were!! We came in from the Scott Co area, off exit 141

Went on a Jeep ride at Royal Blue today (about 15ish miles north of John). We were about 2,600 feet elevation and had to turn around. Trail was getting waaaaay too treacherous. Temps were about 28, and WINDY.

I believe it was February 2015 but it could have been 2014. I was in the double digits below 0 around February 20th if I remember correctly without looking.
It was 2015. First winter in our new to us home.

How does the Euro show snow in Mississippi and then it turns to rain in TN?
Because it's the "Valley Warm Nose" effect. Probably....don't know for sure. Haven't looked at models. Feeling slightly jaded after getting nothing in this last round.

Todd Howell on WBIR just showed the in-house radar changing to snow in Knoxville around 6am, then quickly switching back to rain. I can’t remember which model their radar is based on.

Latest European weeklies line up with the tropical convection for the last forever. Except for next week's cold front, it's mainly warmer than normal weeks. Especially weeks 3-6 have a screaming +ABNA pattern. That's not super warm here, but no way to deliver cold. Warmest anomalies are north and west.
I would think it's the secondary pattern. Would last until about Thanksgiving. Then the primary pattern in La Nina would be that stubborn SER. Neither is really cold here, which is not a surprise in La Nina. Guess I'm saying the same thing over and over. Mainly warm. Hope for a well timed miracle. One of those Plains cold outbreaks bleeds southeast correctly timed.
So basically just like last year, and the year before, and the year before that, etc.......

Rains have definitely increased IMBY. It looks like spring here with all of the green. So far this is the antithesis of September last year. Leaves should look awesome this year.
Until that inevitable storm front comes through and blasts all the leaves off like an industrial mega-leaf blower

I can't remember a spring that has been this windy. Not breezy....but just flat out windy almost every day.

The "end" is where most people start. The last time we did it the water was pretty high also. You should see the wave that we create just going through....even at slow speeds!!!

Just saw the sun. It still exists.

LOL. Nope.
To paraphrase President Reagan’s speech about the Berlin Wall......”Mr. Carvers, shut down this thread!”

I need to find this. What is it called, lol. Surprised facebook hasn't "recommended" it to me yet.
"Winter Storm Outlook For East Tennessee". I follow them also and get a good laugh from it from time to time.

Sorry to be a curmudgeon.....but if it's not gonna stick, I would rather it just rain. Waste of good snow in Knoxville.

Had more snow this morning than we are currently. Seems to be stuck as liquid. Hope a switch occurs when heavier precip move in shortly.
It's finally changing over in most of Knoxville....so it should be at your doorstep very soon

HRRR and RAP neither give the east TN valley a boost of confidence in the current situation. Here's hoping for the best, but I'm prepared for the worst.
Welcome back!!! Well....welcome to the new forum. Missed your posts on the other one.

We can share a room if neededMempho, is there any vacancy left? I might be moving in if Knoxville sees 0 inches of snow while just about everywhere else North, South, West, and East of the city does this weekend.

We went through the tunnel a few weeks ago and the water was high then. A couple friends were talking about going this weekend - so I shared your video of the bridge to hopefully make them think otherwise!!!

@Holston_River_Rambler I would LOVE to see how flooded Nemo Tunnel is right now!!!

Current water elevation at Norris Lake is 1,003 ASL. Full pool is 1,020. Here's the predicted data over the next few days. It's risen two feet since 3am, so I would venture to guess these estimates may be on the lower side.

Nice Jeep!!! It’s just all depends honestly. That ride was in Royal Blue, on the west side of I-75. That area is mostly forest roads/trails.....some mud/dirt/gravel....and a few river crossings. The water can get deep in a few places. The east side of 75 of Royal Blue can be a bit more “wild”, and plenty more opportunities to damage your ride.
I’m like you in that I don’t want to damage my Jeep, so I stick to the trails that I’m comfortable with. I’m still pretty much stock, other than put 33s on, as well as Rubicon take-off springs/shocks. With that being said, I’m comfortable on SOME trails at Windrock, but prefer smaller groups of like-minded people that don’t have dedicated trail Jeep’s. If you want to get out and hit some roads/easy trails, look on Facebook for Smoky Mtn Jeep Club. All of their stuff is super easy and fun.
This pic is from the overlook at Windrock.
