After missing out on almost all the rains over the last 2 weeks, the abnormally dry are on the drought monitor has blossomed from 12% of the state of NC to 28%, mostly in central and eastern parts of the state. Combined with this early season heat, it feels very “crunchy” out there walking through the woods

Whopping 0.01" of rain today. 1.2" for the month, most of which came down on the 3rd. Hopefully we'll get something on Sunday to get the garden going and wash away the pollen. Meanwhile, in Dubai.....

1. It was warmer today here but still very pleasant with dewpoints as low as the upper 40s early this evening. The walking was so enjoyable.

 2. 114 years tomorrow Atlanta amazingly enough had 1.5” of snow!! This is to me easily its most freak winter storm there on record. It is 3 weeks later than the second latest accumulating snow there on record, three weeks later than Greensboro’s, one week later than Raleigh’s/GSP’s, and 5 days later than Charlotte’s latest measurables!

 More details are here:

40% of NC in the “abnormally dry” category in this weeks drought monitor, that’s up from 28% last week. With little to no rain in the forecast I expect drought conditions to redevelop in a lot of central/eastern NC. Thankfully this is somewhat localized and much of the region is in a surplus of rain this spring
