Hook is peaking out again around Dumfries. Pretty decent booms already in Arlington.
-
Legit circulation on the TOR
Yep, was trying to post something but it got funky. Circulation all the way up the tilts on RadarScope. -
That’s some decent rotation... wouldn’t shock me if something weak was OTG.
-
Left circle has the “tornado possible tag”, right is almost certainly going to get an STW with probably the same tag.
Or just a TW

I'm psyched big time about this winter. We're gonna get two nice Miller A storms in January and a nice December cold wave.
when I get home I’m adding this to my sig and holding you to it
jokes aside this looks to be a good winter. had my first snow related dream last night, I blame this thread being started, hah.- 2

Rain is really heavy and there are some occasional rumbles. Feels tropical.

Pictures or it didn’t happen.
FWIW I kinda agree with that sentiment. Here are pics though.- 1

Best lightning is on the back edge of the line. Just now getting cloud to ground ones.

It’s extremely dark but this is actually very meh in Arlington. Wind isn’t anything special.
-
Wow it got very dark very fast. Hearing a roar in the distance.

Nothing yet in Arlington but ominous skies. Have a dead tree over part of our house though so heading to the basement. This week may test that tree more then I’d like.

LOL...just like that we have sun and patches of blue sky in Gaithersburg. Maybe this'll work out? I'm not terribly confident in today.
Love looking at GOES16.
You can see the clouds beginning to thin out.
edit:
swear I made this post before I saw the others

Raining buckets in Charlottesville. Lightning is all C-to-C. Not particularly windy either.
-
TWs popping up around Charlottesville. Trying to eat my sushi before I worry about blowing away.
-
Hanging out in the land of 5% TOR today for some college acceptance tours. Woo storms.

Feb 2015 cold was pretty memorable too. Only time we'd ever had school cancellations due to cold weather
Fairfax cancelled due to cold this year
Vote definitely is for the 2011 Derecho though. That’s as wild as it gets around here. -
-
Wait... if our events are busting because we are in a drought, and hence it can’t rain/snow in a drought, are we literally going to be stuck in a drought forever? Has someone done the math?! Cancel the next 50 winters until global warming moves the ocean close enough to help us out.

I have a decent chunk of some of the free snow totals maps going back a week. I'll try and get those off of my phone and put them in an album at some point.

I had turned on TWC. The night before I had looked at my Local on the Eights and was stunned to see the 18-24 inch forecast. I knew what was coming, but couldn't grasp it until the night before. I barely got any sleep, and had the radar on. I dosed off, woke up at six, and saw the most impressive blob of white over DC, with no way out of it. Easily the best moment of my weather life, and truly got me interesting in snow, rather then hurricanes.
I have a saved photo of that radar still that I'm going to try and dig out so I can remissness.

wow! killer cloud to ground strike. no rain yet.
Really backs up the whole thunder roars, go indoors. That was out of nowhere compared to the earlier booms.
