I checked out Jan. 7th and 8th 1996 - ah the memories! Then back to reality, where we had almost as much rain here this morning as the snowfall total for the winter to date, lol.
The previous version was erratic until about 3 days out. No data to check with the new version since we haven't had one since its been in service full time (almost a year?). Another reason why we need a Miller A, lol.
As an FYI, snow measurements for PHL have been taken across the river from the airport, in National Park, N.J., for the last 15 years or so. Not that it snows that much more or less there, just that it's not literally done at the airport anymore.
Light steady snow here now, 30F. Looking at the CC radar and central PA obs, looks like the snow should pick up a bit but the change over to sleet should be here in an hour or less. Hoping for a nice thump of either before any rain.
Still under bright greens here and nothing reaching the ground yet. Heavy virga! The RH outside here is 46%, which based on past experience needs to get up to 55 or 60% to see snow making it to the ground.
