  1. Yes it was, but we did get accumulating snow in March. Last spring was a nice gradual warmup overall I believe.
  2. Here is some of our handiwork - my wife is the seamstress, lol. This one is a Blue Chinese Wisteria tree that we got as a stick tree (bare root) 3 years ago, and it 's just starting to bloom. Lost a few flower buds (but not too many) last week to the freeze when it got down to 31F. It was toasty inside there right after we covered it. I won't really mind if it only gets down to 34F but this is insurance. 46F here now. eta - this is a pic we saw online (when we decided to get it) of what it will hopefully look like when it grows up :-):
  3. I wonder what the history is with cold Marches (and/or Aprils) like we've had the last few years and any correlation to the following winter. Hopefully there is none. A change from the early and late cold with a meh winter sandwiched in between would be nice.
  4. 58 and sunny here now - seems counter intuitive to do this, but Mt. Holly is sticking to their guns regarding temps tonight.
  5. Tonight the winds are supposed to stay up a bit, so if it stayed at 33 or above we'd probably be okay. Maybe I'll set my alarm for 3 am and check the temp...nah, easier to do in the daylight. We have some frost blankets that we'll tack down to the ground so that some ground heat can rise up and be trapped inside the blankets. That's the concept anyway, lol.
  6. I'm torn as well, but we've got 2 white lilacs, 2 blue wisterias, and a Japanese lilac that we planted about 3 years ago, and they all have flowers almost ready to open up for the first time. We've been waiting patiently (lol) for this, so we'll probably cover them just to be safe, even though the forecast low here is 32.
  7. Thinking about covering some plants here with the freeze warning. Not as much fun as a BBQ, but at least it's sunny now!
  8. Yeah, it was radar based, don't think it actually materialized though.
  9. NYC has a tornado warning, yikes.
  10. That bit of rain to the west has generated another severe t'storm warning here - seems a little cool for that, might be stronger down in Delaware. Hearing thunder to the west-south-west now. Interesting... Also, unusual to have (two) severe warnings in the afternoon and a freeze warning for that night. Pretty wild! Eta, that 2nd batch turned out to be just a cool shower. 51F currently.
  11. Had about 10 minutes of rain, some strong winds, a few rumbles of thunder off to the north, and some pea sized hail. Somewhat clearing up a bit, temp. down to 52F. Eta - maybe one more bit of showers off to the west.
  12. Very nice! That's a lot of shovelling without a smoke break though...
  13. Ha - you may have partially answered my question.
  14. Does anyone know what the game plan is for testing going forward? So far it seems primarily if symptoms are presented or if you work in a high risk environment. It seems like a good idea to have random testing of some sort when we start opening back up, to have a more real time sense of any virus presence locally. Given the availability of testing so far and the absence of federal support for widespread testing, it might be a pipe dream.
  15. Not difficult as long as your knees and back aren't too cranky. Might take a couple of days depending on the size. Do it now before it's hot and humid! You'll like the results.
  16. You should drive around and burn it off so you can get some of that cheap gas.
  17. Made it to 31F here, definitely some frost on the pumpkin this morning. Currently full sun and 35, nice looking day (so far).
  18. Just had another snow flurry here, bigger and wetter flakes than this morning, with the temp. at 47F. Probably the warmest surface temp. I've seen snow at. Woohoo, lol. I am ready for those low 60's next week though.
  19. Just had a very light snow flurry here. No, it wasn't flower petals coming off the trees, lol. 45F currently. Must be very cold above ground level.
  20. Sun just came out here, 66F. Got another 0.16 of rain for a total of 2.08".
  21. Heard a couple of rumbles of thunder from that line to the west that is severe warned, but it appears to be breaking up a bit, at least north of the Mason Dixon line. 1.92" of rain so far today, and not much wind at all right now. 64F currently.
  22. You might wind up in New England if your "twine" is strong enough!
