  1. Lol. Your willingness to go above and beyond is admirable.
  2. Yeah I'm looking forward to being able to sit outside without a jacket on (for more than one day in a row).
  3. Just being technical, but it says 100% recycled toilet paper? Now that's some recycling.
  4. I've been thinking about that too, and the covers are still up. Forecast low here is 38, but temps will drop like a rock this evening. I might wait until tomorrow morning and hope it stays dry until later (for mowing).
  5. Yay, and congrats to you too! The tarp is actually 12 ft. wide frost blanket, and she used some ground pegs to tie the open ends together. It got down to 34F here (lol), that's the way it works sometimes, but I don't regret doing it. Gotta take them down and put them away so I can mow before the monsoon sets in. 43F here currently, bright sunshine and windy. Good kite flying weather!
  6. Yes it was, but we did get accumulating snow in March. Last spring was a nice gradual warmup overall I believe.
  7. Here is some of our handiwork - my wife is the seamstress, lol. This one is a Blue Chinese Wisteria tree that we got as a stick tree (bare root) 3 years ago, and it 's just starting to bloom. Lost a few flower buds (but not too many) last week to the freeze when it got down to 31F. It was toasty inside there right after we covered it. I won't really mind if it only gets down to 34F but this is insurance. 46F here now. eta - this is a pic we saw online (when we decided to get it) of what it will hopefully look like when it grows up :-):
  8. I wonder what the history is with cold Marches (and/or Aprils) like we've had the last few years and any correlation to the following winter. Hopefully there is none. A change from the early and late cold with a meh winter sandwiched in between would be nice.
  9. 58 and sunny here now - seems counter intuitive to do this, but Mt. Holly is sticking to their guns regarding temps tonight.
  10. Tonight the winds are supposed to stay up a bit, so if it stayed at 33 or above we'd probably be okay. Maybe I'll set my alarm for 3 am and check the temp...nah, easier to do in the daylight. We have some frost blankets that we'll tack down to the ground so that some ground heat can rise up and be trapped inside the blankets. That's the concept anyway, lol.
  11. I'm torn as well, but we've got 2 white lilacs, 2 blue wisterias, and a Japanese lilac that we planted about 3 years ago, and they all have flowers almost ready to open up for the first time. We've been waiting patiently (lol) for this, so we'll probably cover them just to be safe, even though the forecast low here is 32.
  12. Thinking about covering some plants here with the freeze warning. Not as much fun as a BBQ, but at least it's sunny now!
  13. Yeah, it was radar based, don't think it actually materialized though.
  14. NYC has a tornado warning, yikes.
  15. That bit of rain to the west has generated another severe t'storm warning here - seems a little cool for that, might be stronger down in Delaware. Hearing thunder to the west-south-west now. Interesting... Also, unusual to have (two) severe warnings in the afternoon and a freeze warning for that night. Pretty wild! Eta, that 2nd batch turned out to be just a cool shower. 51F currently.
  16. Had about 10 minutes of rain, some strong winds, a few rumbles of thunder off to the north, and some pea sized hail. Somewhat clearing up a bit, temp. down to 52F. Eta - maybe one more bit of showers off to the west.
  17. Very nice! That's a lot of shovelling without a smoke break though...
  18. Ha - you may have partially answered my question.
  19. Does anyone know what the game plan is for testing going forward? So far it seems primarily if symptoms are presented or if you work in a high risk environment. It seems like a good idea to have random testing of some sort when we start opening back up, to have a more real time sense of any virus presence locally. Given the availability of testing so far and the absence of federal support for widespread testing, it might be a pipe dream.
  20. Not difficult as long as your knees and back aren't too cranky. Might take a couple of days depending on the size. Do it now before it's hot and humid! You'll like the results.
  21. You should drive around and burn it off so you can get some of that cheap gas.
