  1. Thanks, lol. I think it will survive this coming week, Sunday will shrink it a little, but doesn't look like a whole lot of rain, nor too much of a warm up. Maybe we'll get some more snow to build on it with!?!
  2. I'm inside (for a change, lol) so I didn't see anything. There's sites for those kind of observations where you can make a report or just check to see if any similar sightings have occurred in your area/region. I used it a few years ago for a fireball, didn't actually see it but we were on our front porch late in the evening and something lit the ground up like full moonlight, and besides the fact that there was minimal moonlight, we saw the shadow of our chimney and roof moving across the lawn, lol. I checked and that's what it was, a fireball. Here's a link to one site: https://www.amsmeteors.org/
  3. If I may interject some belated observations etc. from last night's snowfall... Wound up with 4.1" here, within the forecast range, but exceeded my expectations due to the middle finger (subsidence zone) showing up on most of the mesoscale model runs. I totally enjoyed the snow. What a change from recent weather. Looks and feels like winter! Here is the baby snow pile, not very big but it does cast a shadow:
  4. Still pretty cool though, especially if there wasn't already snow on the ground. I remember (when I was very young) waking up during the night and seeing the ceiling lit up from fresh snow outside (probably still snowing), and you knew, lol. Much excitement!
  5. Stating the obvious (to some, lol), but there is something very pleasing about staying up for an overnight snowfall, especially the 1st one of the season. Time for a nap now, since things are winding down here. Guessing about 3.5" but I'll measure later. Good stuff!
  6. Lol and don't get distracted when your school district finally comes around. This last band is producing, heavy snow here now, probably the heaviest rates of the night : -). 28F at the moment.
  7. Measured 2.0" a little while ago, looks like one more decent band to go before it starts to wind down here. Tree with lights looks nice in the snow I think:
  8. Thank you! Think you're right about a couple more hours (of the heavier snow at least). This is what I have from Dover on COD radar site. Looks good for now!
  9. Still moderate snow here, 30F. Just shy of an inch on the ground so far. Radar looks decent!
  10. The discussion is a good read, especially if you like snow! (You might need to squint to read it from this image, haha):
  11. Moderate snow here now, raisin bran sized flakes, 31F, dp 23. A little over a quarter inch now, things starting to whiten up. Beautiful!
  12. Yeah and I've been under that for a while and until 5 minutes ago still not a flake. So I went out with the snow lamp and was looking, looking, and thinking "you've got to be kidding me!". Then I saw it - a single fingernail sized flake, and another, and a few more. So, yay! Woohoo too! Currently 32F here.
  13. Nice! No snow yet but it's getting pretty breezy here as well. Almost windy at times.
  14. It's out here too. Can't get the snow to cross rt. 202. But it is getting closer, slowly. Really, lol.
  15. Sounds like. I know what you mean but I try to be an optimist, lol. The sleet/rain line moving north in certain storms is painful. This one shouldn't have that issue though.
  16. Thanks Paul, and I hope it verifies! I do feel that this post needs one of these however .
  17. Nice! That's about 10 million cubic feet at a 10:1 ratio. Though it's probably a lower ratio, snow machine snow is pretty dense.
  18. I was going to say the same, up here there was settling between events but no real melting, so I'm sure they had snow left from the 1st one.
  19. Got a dusting here in spots but nothing on the driveway so snow pile chances are pretty slim. It is actually snowing lightly at times so there's that!
