Euro and gfs spitting out a ton of rain next weekend. Cmc wants no part

Let that muggy 70 degree air in! I’ll take the AC. I know we have a lot of heroes on here that weirdly suffer and beat their chests over not turning on the AC, but I’ll take the comfort.

Ended up turning the central air on. Ac cranking in November 5th. What a time to be alive.

It’s in our spare bathroom which doubles as the laundry room. It’s a lot bigger than an average bathroom. It’s not loud, and ours is only one speed and it’s been on since we moved in. You get used to it after a while honestly, don’t even notice it.

Yup. My house is a couple years old and there is basically no air flow unless we open doors or windows.

I don’t think so? I can’t be 100% sure though. I was told that when they were building these houses they were stunned at how rocky and hard the ground was for basically being in the hockomock.

How did you figure out it was leaking? I go to where the pipe is outside on the house occasionally to check it and make sure I don’t smell the “rotten egg” smell. Not sure that would even be what I’m looking for though

I mean, just because people lived with it before doesn’t mean we should keep doing it lol. And that article addresses setting up the piping, but nowhere does it show how the fan will be setup. If I need to have something done, I’ll just hire a company that specializes in it. It’s not a 10k job, so I’d rather pay some one and have it done right. It did rain during the time period I performed the test. And I also tested in the room with exposed cement floors and the sump pit, so I’m cautiously optimistic that was the highest area in the house. More testing will confirm. I’d probably let it go, but my parents live in an in law Down there, so I need to address it.

I’ve been told to test once a month for the next 3 months and see what the levels look like. A guy I work with did the 3 month sample and all 3 were in the neighborhood of 3.5-4, so he decided to put in a mitigation system. Im kind of just learning about it, but it’s pretty crazy how many houses probably have action level radon and how few people test for it/ have systems. I was reading that upwards of 35% of homes could use radon mitigation and far less than 1% of those actually have it.

It looks like they may be able to remediate from the existing sump pit? We are going to do another more extensive round of testing to see what the results are before we make any decisions. I did this test in the utility room on the ground floor with the sump pit and exposed French drain, so hopefully that was the worst area.

My wife and I have a collection of (presumably) Native American arrowheads passed down from her grandfather. We must have two dozen of them, very cool stuff. They were collected at an area called the “turkey farm” which is off of bay road on the Norton/easton line. Part of the hockomock If I had any ambition I’m sure I could find some neat stuff hiking behind my house. A lot of that land is untouched and hard to access, so not many people have passed through I’d assume.
