Lake Huron shadow.  But you deserve a weenie tag from Texas Man for complaining about climatology.

I know I'm in a particular screw zone in general but this year I've noticed many setups where the broad line either falls apart or doesn't exist then cells form to the SE of me just a few miles.

I heard one good thunder then nothing, the heavy rains at 5pm - 8 I ended up not getting any at all!

  2. This is hilarious, there is a dry gap in this mega squall with record winds in far sw on and then in Georgian Bay area they typically get these large cells that are tornado warned like this afternoon...guess which of those 3 zones I'm in?

Every time, the cells form just to my east! :lmao: If I had a nickel for the number of times this has happened in 2023!

  3. Nearly everyday storm chances and I've dodged just about all of them, which I'm happy about since I'm not a fan of the rains. The storms now here suck so I rather not have the nuisance of them sadly. There was a cell that formed almost of top last night but somehow no rain just the typical 8 lightning strikes detected by my station (its always around 8 this summer).

Last week and now into this week its been too cloudy, getting pissed again about that. Its not just somewhat, but I'm talking dark gloomy crap that I want to forget! I want the wx we had on July 4th here again, sigh.

  4. The strong storm potential was suppose to start at 3pm, then 6, then 9, 11, now 11:50 pm but I see a juicy cell heading directly east towards me. There was a tornado warning for a supercell near Feversham ON around 6pm and there was also for Perry Sound. Had a hook for a few frames. I was put under it despite being 40 miles away and I noticed on TWN's live coverage Kim quipped that Environment Canada has their hands tied on that to put the whole county under the warning even if the cell is nowhere near most of the blanket. I'd like to know who is tying their hands, its amazingly stupid and needs to end.

Yeah. I thought that was only ever gonna be an issue when trying to chase the Plains with Mexican fire smoke blowing in. 5/20/2019, the updraft base of the supercell that was about to produce the Mangum, OK EF2 crossed US 62 1-2 miles west of me and I couldn't make out any structure whatsoever. Thus I waited too long to move, got caught in the chaser conga line and never did see the tornado.

I was in that conga line and never saw anything like that before. I saw my first nader that day but by the evening I was crestfallen. My mood was as gloomy as the skies were.

Bummed that my fav month went by so fast, it was a solid June but a few too many smoky days, no storms at all, minor showers which I prefer. There was that cooler spell of 4-5 days that I hated. These last 2 days are really good.

  6. One of the best puffy tower nights I can remember, after 5pm when the overcast left it was amazing. Mid-evening it was 360 degrees of it with even a thick band partial rainbow in a spot with no shower, I haven't looked at the pic yet closely; hope it turned out.

  7. The storms yesterday did not materialize and missed me by storm margin, I didn't hear any thunder til this morning at 8. there was some light rain less than 1mm overnight with no strikes detected! Got dark with a few rumbles and 2mm of rain so far. All the most intense cells keep missing me in every direction - watching the loop from the last 3 hours is funny; how it pivots from my east to directly north. I was cloudy last night for nothing.

  8. Had the warmest low of the year so far at 19C/66F. Overcast yet suppose to have some sun later on with a chance of storms (yeah right). I had three strikes detected yesterday but I heard no thunder. The heavy stuff was to my west so only got 1.2mm. For the first time this summer its showing chance of strong t-storms tomorrow. 35 mm of rain for the period (not buying that but 20mm I can see).

I need that sun to poke out soon again, yesterday was too dark.

  9. Had more clouds today but still perfect temps, around 29C with some humidity. Somehow my 7-day has rain amounts every day - likely just 3 or 4 will have some measurable precip. I was shocked to see chance of t-storms both sat and sun, first in 2.5 months. My butt-cheeks are not clenched.

  10. I've been learning the terminal (command line interface) so one of the uses is getting my current wx info and forecast from there, the options haven't been great like wttr.in gives me wrong info every time and there is lack of documentation on altering the config file if there is one. Ideally I'd like to get most of my basic info from a terminal emulator such as history from any city, parsing ranges from my excel databases from my station, metars, etc. I'm using both Debian and Arch based OSs.

Sky already has that milky look to it due to smoke in the upper levels. This after all-day overcast, showers, and low 60s yesterday. Easily the dullest May-June of my adult life. Last thunder I heard was still because of the storms I chased on 5/7.

If not for 3/31, I think this would have been the year that finally killed my interest in weather.

Its been a bad week, hated that dark overcast and cold shart for 3 days. Its been the most boring 6 months, somehow every year it gets even moreso! I haven't heard thunder since Apr 5 and just 1 heat wave so far. No storms in my 7 day.

  12. My hourlies removed the sprinkles or showers here for today and on radar it looks like any precip is just fizzling out before it gets this south. I see dark skies at times to the west but somehow it breaks apart. I haven't seen any precip at all in about 3 weeks straight.

  13. I've had to have the heat on during the past few days. I've had smoke advisory for 3 days in a row: longest I can remember. Even though the label for my hourlies were showing smoke most of yesterday there wasn't for half the day. Showing 40% pops for sprinkles mid-afternoon. Needed all this sun we've been having!!

  14. For some reason my highs starting today til Thurs show me reaching 90F, I'd be delighted but I don't buy it. Whatever it takes to cease the need for me to put on sweaters and slippers at night. As soon as I started hitting 30C/86F I started feeling upbeat.

There were a few minor clouds yesterday afternoon but today back to blue skies. 7 days now in a row mostly sunny.
