  1. One of my met buddies is in Lincoln, NE and already has 5” down. Gonna be a major crush job there.
  2. HRRR and RAP bring the mix line dangerously close to Detroit now. Snow totals have improved a little, but worried we flirt with sleet and then the dry slot.
  3. I hope to see the Brazilian and Korean models myself
  4. The bar is a 42hr duration 3.7” event. It’s a pretty low bar here too. I’d take the 6z hrrr and run and get about 4”. 2-4” here still seems like a good call. Honestly wonder if we’ll even get a WWA
  5. I've been in a coma! Trends have just been brutal farther east. Hopefully someone out there scores
  6. Really not much to add from the Michigan side. Confluence from the northern wave diving in from Canada really starts to shear out the southern wave by the time it's approaching the area. Lose the good dynamics that areas farther west have. Probably will be contending with the northern edge of the mid level dryslot too on Tuesday. Some concern too of the low level flow from the ENE keeping some drier air in the mix for longer, eating away at the snow totals. Still look to get a period of moderate snow, but this is nowhere near how things looked a few days ago. Real chance today's overachiever ends up having higher totals imby than this storm. 2-4" looks good for now for SEMI.
  7. Cancelling my pivotal plus and wxbell (lol) subscriptions right now
  8. This wave certainly helped bump up the January total here haha, and there were a couple other days were we did a little better than you and DTW.
  9. Picked up 2.8” of snow on the snow board. Nice overachiever today. There were even a few 3-4” reports where banding was the most persistent today. The snow was very fluffy, a rare sight this season. That band the hung on to the 96/696 corridor was ripping for a while. I’m now up to 8.1” this month and 18.9” this season. Feels like we’re cheating our way to a normal January.
  10. Heavy snow here along 696. Fair amount of accidents today. Good rippage rn...probably will be better than Monday night
  11. 3km manages to be even worse than the 12km Glad we agree now that this storm isn’t worth bothering over here in SEMI. Congrats Iowa
  12. Yikes is right. SEMI in particular gets really screwed this run.
  13. I was a met major for a little while but decided I wanted weather as a hobby instead. Actually was a student volunteer at DTX for a summer, so I’m pretty familiar with the NWS side of everything. Got a degree in secondary science education (fire up Chips). Most likely will be getting a masters degree in administration (maybe outdoors related) or environmental science or something. I’m quite active in the storm chasing community and routinely chase everywhere from good ol’ Illinois to Texas and Wyoming. Otherwise, like most others here, I’ve had a deep passion for the weather since a young age. Love the intricate details about how the science works too. Several posters here know me outside the board too which is cool.
  14. Must be the lack of arctic air here that lowers the totals
  15. Hard not to be cautiously optimistic looking at guidance. Haven’t had a spread the wealth track like that in a few years. Glad we don’t have to rely on a phase here to get the big dog storm. Still have concerns that the northern stream suppresses this to the south, but it’ll also keep this from just cutting north. Liking the CHI-DET corridor fo sho That UKMET run is the literally dream. Deepens to 990mb just south of Toledo. Would probably be getting blizzard conditions in some of the region with a sizable area of 30-45kt 925mb winds. The area of 1.0”+ QPF with ratios definitely a little better than 10:1 would get big dog totals. Taking that run to the bank
  16. 0.9” so far in Berkley. Probably will eek out another tenth or two. Would’ve been nice to get in on that band along M59
  17. Got another DAB+ yesterday. So hard to contain my excitement from all this snow
  18. Solid DAB+ on the grass. Nothing on the concrete. Still a top 10 event
  19. No hoar frost, snow pack is effectively down to piles, ground isn’t even frozen. Tough scene around these parts as we head into 10 days of zzzz
  20. I’m glad I took the drive from Detroit to Lansing. Rates were incredible and the snowflakes were huge. I96 was just a crapshoot. Completely snow covered and icy...and visibility was a few hundred feet at times in the band. Had to take video of the event because it was just too good.
  21. Gonna go with a call of 2.5” of snow for tomorrow morning’s event
