I don't really feel it was a bust, at all, for NC.  There was plenty of wind damage associated with the straight-line winds.  In addition, there were probably over 20 tornado warnings for central NC, some of which have verified on-the-ground tornadoes.

Agreed this lived up to the Moderate risk that the SPC forecasted, at least for NC.

I just saw that as well. Some of those cells entering the southern piedmont look to be discrete as well. Not a good look. Does anyone have any insight as far as Robert(WX South) does with severe weather? He called this potentially historic.

Robert was our go-to Met on this board for many years. He is excellent with winter weather in our part of the world. However, I really wasn't into severe weather back then. So, I can't comment on his severe forecast, but I would not bet against it right now.

Odd juxtaposition of "CONFIRMED LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO" with "RADAR CONFIRMED TORNADO" with the east-of-Griffin cell.  Usually the confirmed-large-etc source is spotter or EMS.

Meanwhile it's just gusting and damp in S Forsyth County, for now.  Not complaining.

If the CC shows it, then it is confirmed. That basically lets you know that there is debris being lofted and it is on the ground.

Deep South, I know, though a MRGL in Central/Piedmont N.C.

    Though look at that MDT!

If things stay the same, I expect we'll see a high risk with this one. The SPC day 1 criteria for high risk (45% with sig severe) would be reached.

Last time I was part of this sub-forum, I was just a college student. Now I'm moving back to North Carolina with red tag under my username and experience of two of most insane winters in my life. Gonna miss these crazy northern winters, but I'm happy to have warm weather again! A day in 70 F was nice to return to.

Welcome back man. I remember you well. Where were you located during those insane winters? By the way, congrats on your red tag!

People reporting snow in Tusculoosa and Bham AL well north or the radar returns so that is odd.....not sure how heavy it is but I cant imagine its too heavy if its not being picked up on radar....

Reports of snow in Atlanta... if this trend keeps up, we could get into the action.
