  1. Lol rough morning here. Cancelling all great expectations and just hoping for substance the snowblower can actually pick up and throw at this point. Was a fun week leading up to the event but seems the trailer will be better than the movie for this one.
  2. Yeah im a bit confused by the map posted above....either i'm reading my 18z euro wrong or....
  3. I live about 10mi NE of you. I'll be standing on 495 near Haverhill with a "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" sign if the sleet starts coming towards us.
  4. Tough one for me. I live ON the MA/NH border just north of Haverhill. A bit close to the coast, not quite far enough north to be guaranteed fluffly snow, not far enough south to be fully expecting a mushy mix. One run I'm in the sweet spot for 12+ the next I'm choking thinking sub 6"..... My area typically does pretty well just north of 495... My brain is saying 7-8" regardless...anyone in my close vicinity with expectations.?
  5. That pic is a Game of of thrones "winter is coming" reference if I've ever seen one!
  6. What site do you guys use to get the 18Z euro? I have been paying at a site that apparently doenst offer it and i'll dump and run if theres something better. Ended up on f5weather after eurowx closed.
  7. Dont underestimate the rush on generators. In 2008 when my area got pretty much destroyed by an ice storm, I had to drive from the NH border almost to CT to find a generator in stock. I'm honestly surprised so many live long term in the NE without a generator. Unless its a tiny affected area theres no ROI on stores stocking enough generators to actually meet demand in an actual event...most stock for their usual yearly purchase volume.
  8. My style is a put the genny outside someplace that once it snows would be a BITCH to steal...You think you can drag it through a foot of snow before I catch you? Game on.
  9. Me too. Hate all this "weather" stuff. Wait, where am i?
  10. All these mentions that the pinging/freezing rain aspects seem to stop at the MA/NH border leave me feeling like I'm living on the edge of a razor. I live literally 2 miles north of the MA border, just north of Haverhill. I flip between predictions BOX gives and GYX as I'm at the edge of both their ownership areas. Feeling good on something between 8-12" unless someone comes in showing lots more heading my way. I'm in love with the Euro but some of the NAM solutions leave me so close the the accumulation boundaries that I could bust down from great totals to "meh but I get to use the snowblower" totals with additional NW creep>
  11. Good overnight models to offset that horrific Bruins game last night.
  12. Tracking and watching this storm and watching the Bruins/Montreal game on Monday have some creepy parallels. Such emotional highs and lows. This Euro run felt like that goal with 30 seconds left to tie it up. Lets just hope the next 2 days dont end up feeling like how the game ended with a soul crushing Montreal OT goal in the first 15 seconds.
  13. Yeah I plan to do that or to just run an extension cord out and blast a space heater at the engine block for a little while.....assuming I can't get it going. Its a 2018 brand new Kubota and I winterized the fuel and it has glow plugs so theres a decent chance it'll start up right away but I dont like the idea of my first sub-zero start attempt to be with a huge volume or snow and ice on the ground, haha
  14. UGH I love and need snow but also want my diesal tractor with its snowblower to start, as well. Super low temps plus diesel=frustration. Should have installed that block heater but how often are we clearing plowable snow at single digit or below temps? Never!
  15. Someone needs to create a website where you put in your home address and it finds the model that is currently outputting the highest possible snowfall amounts and only displays that map. In all honesty thats the game for most until these things are within 3 days from hitting...
  16. This looks SO tame compared to what my town looked like in 2008. There was literally no passable road out of Plaistow, NH that didn't require a chainsaw. Absolute and total devastation. We had telephone poled across out street with wires in the street for 6 days before crews even got to our area.
  17. This year I finally upgraded my snow removal machine from a pathetic little 9HP walk-behind to a Kubota tractor running a ~20+HP PTO-driven 50" wide blower. Looks like I might need it!
  18. I live in Plaistow, NH. We had a slim band near the NH/MA border that got absolutely destroyed. Here's a book written on the event: https://www.amazon.com/Weight-Ice-Northeast-Storm-2008/dp/0979506778 Was 2008, not 2006. My bad.
  19. I used to be this way until the ice storm of 2006 when a major ice storm pretty much turned my town into a wasteland. I was without power for 13 days in December and nearly every stitch of wood on my property fell. It sure was pretty that morning but the actual devastation was nasty.
  20. Dumping snow like a faucet right now....might be best flakes and rates of the day so far.
  21. Band falling in here....great snow so far. Probably 7" on ground but very hard to tell.
