  1. In case anyone didn’t know and was afraid to ask - The Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) is a standardized index based on the observed sea level pressure (SLP) differences between Tahiti and Darwin, Australia. The SOI is one measure of the large-scale fluctuations in air pressure occurring between the western and eastern tropical Pacific (i.e., the state of the Southern Oscillation) during El Niño and La Niñaepisodes. In general, smoothed time series of the SOI correspond very well with changes in ocean temperatures across the eastern tropical Pacific. The negative phase of the SOI represents below-normal air pressure at Tahiti and above-normal air pressure at Darwin. Prolonged periods of negative (positive) SOI values coincide with abnormally warm (cold) ocean waters across the eastern tropical Pacific typical of El Niño (La Niña) episodes
  2. We track the good patterns for a month ahead of time and if they do get here they last about 3 days. And yes I know where I live so no need to be snarky. It’s just the facts about weather in coastal mid Atlantic
  3. I’m beginning to think this guy may be a bit of a hypester - lol https://x.com/bigjoebastardi/status/1753481106576253429?s=46&t=j_-aw-4tjFwrt5AoXKNk5A
  4. @brooklynwx99- seriously you are my favorite poster on the board. Your optimism is great. Thanks for posting here and giving us hope.
  5. We all received snow this year- I’d call it a minor success
  6. Man I hope you guys get this one. I’d love a blizzard to happen for you. You got this!
  7. So I guess we are on pace for a region wide BECS on or around the 17th of February. But after that 50” snow- what’s next? Lol
  8. BAM not impressed with anything… https://x.com/bamwxcom/status/1750860672244518912?s=46&t=j_-aw-4tjFwrt5AoXKNk5A

  10. True- snow was around for several days- great for my son to actually go sledding in coastal Delaware. It was great and something that certainly doesn’t happen every winter here
  11. I think we have a new acronym to use- besides the standards like NAO, MJO, SER - I think we now can use PTR- (perfect track rainstorm)
  12. Yeah but his advantage is that teams in the nfc haven’t faced him that year. If they play the Niners - it will not be easy at all. Niners will be ready and familiar with the Ravens.
  13. Webberweather’s comments about this -EPS looks like it's getting ready to setup a big -NAO after the end of the run. The very active/negatively tilted & equatorward-displaced storm track in/around N America is a big clue we're about to get a west-based -NAO.
  14. I’m waiting on the annual JB tweet in regards to February being like the Don McLean song - But February made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step
  15. Nothing crazy cold this January in the mid Atlantic
  16. More importantly- who are you taking in today’s playoff games? I’m thinking Lions 35 Bucs 17 chiefs 24 Bills 21
  17. It stinks that our base state is so warm right now- we fight and claw just to get a nice 7 day cold period. Warmth comes right back with a vengeance and never lasts for just a week.
  18. Ravens absolutely dominated the 2nd half- the ravens express keeps rolling!
  19. Demeco Ryans is a damn good coach The Texans are a legitimate Super Bowl threat after what 3 wins last year
