Merry Christmas everyone!
Warm and rainy morning. Just a few snow piles left now. Power flickered a couple of times around 6am when the heavy line came through. Glad it never went out as the sump pump is working overtime keeping the water out of the basement. 2.5" of rain so far.

.6" mix of snow and graupel here in Salem. Impressed at how much was coming down when I was in West Hartford earlier today.

Too bad. But have to say, pretty frigging awesome looking here. Definitely have a cake layer. My buddy told me around 3 am there was some rain mixed for an hour while he was plowing. Also said that at one point it was snowing so hard he couldn't see his truck lights.

Gonna be tough to swallow if it the giant snow eraser comes and erases to the Laurentian shelf . We should have a good idea by tomorrow evening runs
Yep, can confirm. Heavy pingers woke me up around 3am or so...lasted at least 30 minutes. Nice layer of ice/sleet in the middle of the pack.

Going to work on a map now. Had to get this out of the way first. Scrolled through the last 25 pages to find all the CT reports, used PNS and NWS 72 hour snowfall maps. Reports earlier than 900AM were thrown out, as well as all the CoCoRahs stuff that ends exactly 7AM. BOX did a great job weeding out all those reports so that made it easier but OKX left a bunch of old garabge in that i had to sift through. ALY was good. Also threw out that 26" Litchfield county report from a drunken snow weenie measuring a snow plow pile.
If anyone has any additional reports id be happy to add them before i do the map, speak now or forever hold your peace.
Got an extra .5" in those band that came through in the afternoon. 9.5" total in SE corner of Salem.

Just went out and shoveled a bit so we could let the pup out. Didn't take any measurements but I'm guessing about 7 or 8" so far down here. A mix of sleet and snow right now.

I don't like that pink so close to me.
It's gonna be close for both of us. I don't care much either way, but I know most everyone here is rooting for max snow in their back yard.

Hellacious coastal front SE CT to S shore . NW of that crushed
I'm gonna be walking a tight-rope on that coastal front down here.

Finally some flakes at the end of the day. Back edge approaching. Wasn't really expecting any accums down here anyway.

2" here in Salem, CT. It really came down under that heaving banding from 12-3pm but changed back to rain by 4:30pm and never got below 34 until after midnight.
-
1/2" of slush on everything in 20 minutes. Wet!
-
Flipped to snow about 10 minutes ago. Giant slushy flakes coming down at 35 degrees.

Small tree down across the road just up the street. Lucky it missed the overhead lines. Helped the state trooper pull it off to the side.
Tropical storm like outside now - heavy heavy sideways rain.
-
Nice constant background roar going now, with some pretty heavy gusts. Whenever the heavier batches of rain come the wind definitely mixes down really well.

Paid $1.71/gal for a heating oil delivery yesterday. How does that compare to SNE?
Paid $1.42/gal on 11/3, but I see the local place I get mine is up to $1.65 now

So much frost this morning, it looked like it actually snowed here. I had measurable frost on my car
Same here, frost is heavy. 2.5" final in SE Salem for your snow map.

Still coming down very lightly. 2.5" final, melting already. I'm at 388 feet, just down the hill, about a mile, at 150' they have almost nothing.
-
Impressive, sleet down here in SE CT already. Wasn't expecting frozen until noon or so.

I took my usual 3 minute walk to the gas station during lunch in Branford...when I came outside I noticed an uptick in humidity....although it could also be going from the freaking ice box the gas station was to the much warmer outdoors
Definitely more humid over here in Salem compared to just 2 hours ago when I was outside with the doggo.

Severe warned for the storm over near Marlborough, CT. It's a noisy bugger....non-stop thunder for the past 30 minutes or so. Doesn't look like it's coming anywhere near mby; however.
-
Incoming here. Severe warned for possible wind and hail.
