  1. Maybe it's cost....gotta be some benefit of a lifetime of work...lol.
  2. Yet everyone who has experienced totality say it's one of the all timers. People operate in silos. I looked up about a month ago and was struck with the fact that I'm 70 and always wanted to see totality. A no brainer. Besides, I've always enjoyed Nashville.
  3. I well remember that event. In Boston, we had nearly 97% yet it didn't get that dark. That's when I knew I had to get to totality. Or if I were lucky I could have flown my "Lear jet to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun"
  4. I wonder if that's the quick temperature drop and humidity rise briefly due to darkness at the eclipse time?
  5. What time is your BOS departure? I get in a bit past 4 with a short connection in Detroit.
  6. We should think of a rendezvous point. I'm staying not far from BNA. I was thinking of driving to the Vanderbilt area for dinner Sunday evening -nice neighborhood and walkable.
  7. Sticking with Nashville for now-I think cloud issues look ok and I enjoy Nashville. 12Z Euro clear as a bell for Nashville.
  8. I'm on my own. My wife decided to wait until 2024. Of course she's 12 years younger than me with better odds..lol. i decided to wait until Tuesday to return fearing difficulties getting to BNA Monday night. I also want to relax and celebrate in Nashville which I really like. Im going to try to get to Gallatin by 9AM-maybe sooner and have breakfast there. We should meet at the venue!
  9. Are you solo? Gallatin looks a good spot with 45 seconds more totality va Nashville.
  10. Thanks Richard! I wish I were chasing with you- an experienced eclipse viewer.
  11. See I don't get this part. I'm dying to experience the event and spending time with tripods/cameras means that experience is diluted. I'll shoot one with my iPhone during totality and that's it. Triple creek park in Gallatin,TN. Register with eventbrite if you're there. I do plan to allow for hours getting there vs the typical 40 minutes from Nashville.
  12. Yes. Shortly after noon Sunday. I have a hotel near BNA Sunday and Monday nights.
  13. Flying solo I believe but my wife and daughter may be last minute additions with my wife's friend living in Nashville now.
  14. Ice consider Nashville. Cool place in general and good chances for visibility if the medium range Euro is to be believed.
  15. 2079 is going to be fabulous! Hopping 2017 and realistically 2024 are great. Clouds mean everything and 2024 could be polluted that way given the April time along the lakes.
  16. Others in the know disagree.
  17. I'm going to get up early and head to Gallatin. I'm waiting until about Thursday or Friday to buy my plane ticket because I want to be sure BNA is the destination. My plan is to get to Triple Creek Park which per photos is wide open. My return will wait until 8/22 which gives me latitude to not worry about crowds too much.
  18. Despicable month. Losing light, traffic doubles, summer over.
  19. High imapct from r what species? Bluefish or flounder?
  20. This is it for me. I doubt I'm alive on 2044-98th bday would be 12/1. I think the BNA idea remains viable. I've been out west in summer a lot and trust me it's not cloud free. I can buy or change the air ticket on pretty short notice. Incidentally DEN is cheaper vs BNA but I have miles to use so that's not a big issue.
