  1. While the mother of all grinches melted it with surgical precision in time for Christmas morning, that was a bigger snow event region wide on 12/17 than we'd seen in quite some time in December. I think that's the one that dropped 12-16 widespread in SNE with up to 3 feet in parts of NH into the southern tier of NY state (BGM). What was your total for that event? I know 2019 gave you a 20 spot roughly in the first few days of the month but my recollection is not much after the first week. So from a snow perspective, 12/20 was better than most Decembers but the holiday melt down put a bitter taste in many mouths. And the 12-16 in SNE was the only significant event of the month. Nevertheless, temperature departure was a modest +1.3 at BOS. Despite the negatives, I'd take that this year.
  2. I think we’ll have wetness mid November into January and it should be warm and on the dry side February. We’ll see. Is this the year you had the very wet July?
  3. Do you expect dry conditions for the rest of your life?
  4. We’ll have a cold day or 2 next week before the next torch.
  5. lol….actually I bought it about 17 years before I worked at the VA. But we had some great parties off site off hours.
  6. lol….I bought the album in college
  7. I’m talking about the weather pattern but you knew that….
  8. Pattern kind of resembling 2020 as we go into November. Is this a presidential election thing?
  9. How anyone can say it hasn’t been an orderly step down and indeed increasingly autumnal is beyond me. Everything seems on schedule at least imby.
  10. You seeing new activity? I went out about an hour ago and could make out the faintest streaks but there's no way I could get a usable pic.
  11. That’s a quick recovery from last night’s ERC and possible mild interaction with the tip of the Yucatan. Looks quite robust and ramping again.
  12. So true! My even older neighbor turned his on weeks ago. My threshold is mid 60s in the downstairs areas mid day. So I flipped it on. It will kick on occasionally overnight after warming us to 68-my preferred temperature in the cold season.
  13. Turned on the heat. That means summer is over.
  14. Grass isn’t green at my house 3 miles from Simmons.
  15. We’re all speak for BIrving but I’m almost sure he meant the dec-feb aggregate.
  16. So here’s the question. When I hear first frost I’m thinking frost otg or needing to be scraped off the car. 2M temps are often above freezing since ground temperatures can be colder. So what do you mean by first frost? First freeze for BOS averaged 11/7 in the dataset 1961-90. I’m not sure it’s substantially different now actually.
  17. Seeing Apalachacola National Forest conjures an image from Deliverance…
  18. Bookbinder one of the authors of the latest NHC disco. Is that Evan Bookbinder who was at NWS FO in MO somewhere and a poster here back in the day and on irc way back 25 years ago?
  19. Not exactly zzz but for us….zzzzzz
  20. Was up in Wonalancet yesterday for a nice hike along a stream with guys I’ve been hiking with for 50 years. Actually was decently warm. I was staying in Wakefield and by the time we got there for dinner it was lightly raining. I drove home last night snd rain increased once south of the Merrimack. Pouring when I got home. It’s trying to clear today but the garden got a nice long drink yesterday.
