  1. I get this argument. New age parenting and current public education has turned out it many young adults unable to cope in the adult world.
  2. I don’t get why sleeping in a bit is a sign of a bad employee. I worked at a location other than home for 50 years. The biggest pain was getting less sleep than I should in order to get showered and dressed and travel to work so I could be there on time. If a remote worker can do the same things and have better work life balance why is that bad? If I were paying rent or buying office space I’d push remote work for those where it doesn’t make a difference. There are some face to face times but the overall benefit for the company and employee is high. Since I retired, I’ve had a part time remote gig (1 day/week). I realize that the work can get done and indeed I own the schedule more so everyone is happy. In fact, if anything I’m giving them more than their $$ worth. But admittedly I have the luxury of saying no at any time.
  3. Kind of like we got banished to a back room at JJ Foleys after we catcalled Barry for forecasting 1-3 with a changeover. This was circa 2009 and present were Max (capecod04), scooter, Will, Ray, Kevin, Zeus, Wiz, maybe Don?, Jack.
  4. Here’s a few more.....Stein beware!
  5. Just get to retirement! For me it was a slog and I waited until I was 2 months short of my 74th birthday to pull the trigger. Work I do now doesn’t require my physical presence. I agree about the snow-it’s great leading up to and during but then you’re left with cleanup amd limited mobility....
  6. I fell twice on the ice this winter...time to think warm. We were in FL 2/25-3/10 and going back hopefully in late June to get a sense of living there....can always come back for a month in winter and stay in a nice air bnb.
  7. Yes Thursday was brutal! I think that nonsense waits till November or December now.
  8. I’m thinking that Phineas is enjoying the Baltimore/Boston series this weekend....
  9. Keep it >10 feet from the property line (or whatever the regulation is in your town) and just put it in.
  10. I remember coming home from work and realizing my snow guy gave up for the season. Shoveling at midnight but it’s always fun.
  11. I think once most of the country opens up I don’t see why the bold would be true. The hardest hit folks will be back working full time right? There’s a huge cohort of people who felt no pain but those in service industries especially front line people in places like restaurants have experienced a big chunk of the misery.
  12. In fact, I think we lost 1 full year on life expectancy from birth based on 2020 number!
  13. Data is important. If your household amd cohort of friends and family are free from bad covid that’s great. However, I will never forget the incredible strain on the hospital systems I was able to access last spring. The vaccine will probably put this pandemic to bed.
  14. I’m having trouble pasting links while mobile but google why and some good stuff comes up.
  15. So I don’t know how VT decisions were made. However, it is possible that some of the groups have higher risk and prevalence increasing the likelihood of spread. We stratify by race in health care all the time based on known risk.
  16. Maybe because there are 6 people of color I the state of VT....
  17. I’m looking at my daffodils on the border in the back. Their beauty belies the cold. But in the sun now that it’s April it’s not half bad.
  18. Bright, sunny, and too cold! Spring is usually when we pay for our better winters but now we’re paying for a pleasant wx March.
  19. Link? This ought to be good..... my 93 year old cognitively impaired gramma was cognitively impaired after the shot. Yup-causes dementia..
  20. If she learned anything is don’t go off script...lol
  21. This has been mentioned but if you’ve had covid and get vaccinated it appears per research that your immunity is off the scale great. Trump had Covid in October and vaccinated in January or February. Just saying..
