  1. Awful Brian! So sorry! Hopefully mom gets to the other side soon.
  2. I thought I wouldn’t care about DST this year but up early Monday for an all day job needed in the house so I have to rise at 7:30. Other obligations this week get me up at 6 Thursday...ugh.
  3. Opening day in a bit more than 2 weeks
  4. Speaking of vacation....feds get paid out depending on their job. Doctors in the VA which includes physicians, dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists can get paid out up to 688 hours. My payout of unused vacation carried me into February this year while they were finalizing my pension which finally got settled with back pay this month. Normally they give you about 75% until finalization but mine was 30% until they confirmed I bought out my ex wife’s claims to any payments and she was not entitled to anything. (I bought her out in 2010)
  5. For feds in the old civil service system it was straight additional days to service. However for FERS (everyone hired since the end of 1983 including me..) it was 50% until 2014. A study showed big difference across the system in sick leave usage between civil service and fers so they upped it back to 100% which worked for me.
  6. I’m hoping for way above normal but 40s and 50s won’t do it.
  7. I retired with a year of unused sick leave which added a year to my service time resulting in a better pension. I thank my lucky stars to have good health into my 70s.
  8. Looking at guidance I’m reminded of one more dance.....last dance...
  9. Easy to drive from Denver which is way east to get to in terms of flights.
  10. So much variability..... Our daughter had a sore neck but otherwise ok after the 2nd Moderna. Others got pretty sick for 24 hours. Most of my old colleagues where I used to work had the 24 hour misery but some were fine. And all (like you) are under age 55. My arm was sore for Moderna shot 1 for a few days but otherwise I was fine. My wife’s siblings (all younger than her) had minor effects. I’m looking forward to having it behind us next week.
  11. Most of the people I know who have had covid did ok but not all and it seems that the randomness of it is one of the problems. Naturally us old folks are expected to have much higher risk but I know some young folks with miserable long standing symptoms. With that said, I am pretty confident that a lot of the reduction in incidence and hospitalizations is due to the growing number of people vaccinated. Herd immunity is close imho.
  12. How long have the reactions been? Most report a day. I think younger people with better immune systems react strongest. But I have a 75 year old friend who felt pretty bad for 24 hours. I’ll let you know when we get our 2nd next week.
  13. Wore a sweater when out with the dog after waking up around 11. Down to tshirt.
  14. First day back in SNE in 2 weeks....glorious!
  15. George looked at CMC and bought his bus ticket
  16. I remember thinking if snow is mixing in by noon look out! Sure enough, working literally across the street from the Garden flakes mixed in by Noon. I leave around 4:30 amd crossing the street to the govt center t stop (had to walk the mile to sample the conditions...) I’m getting flakes drilled into my ear from the wind. I get home to Brookline Village and already I have 4 inches of snow on the deck but it was struggling on pavement. I leave to watch the NCAA finals at my friends house about a mile away on foot with wet pavement on the back alley. Returning 3 hours later to a foot in the same place with it raging. What a special event! Widespread 2-3 feet!!
  17. How much is Trudeau paying George?
  18. Actually I did I remember what you said after 2015 and I may have even responded that’s how you get climo. But while the climo regressed somewhat it didn’t really rat out until the 2 years before this season.
  19. What a baby......your way or the highway..
