In Eastern ashe back home for the beginning of this one, light dusting on the grass, hopefully it will deter customers from work, dont really like the store I'm at today. Will be back in Boone around 6, let's see what she brings.

Well, Sunday is at least going to be a slop of a day. Gonna be nice to sit at ale house and watch football all day at least lol. I think us northern counties are in for a show, unless the QPF is hard to come by, which has been hinted several times

12z gfs is a solid event. Seeing more eps members with bigger totals overnight too. Mean jumped an inch from 3 to 4 for Boone.
GEFS with a noticeable jump in QPF from under an inch to about 1.2 average with more members much higher. Snow mean is at 6 inches for Boone with a lot more members showing more as well. BRING IT!

Ice is confined to the western areas of NC/VA; with lesser amounts (spots up to .25-.50") compared to the CMC.
It appeared to be a very late transfer which brought in much warmer air compared to the CMC. considering the 6z didn't have it all, just ran the thing up west of the apps, I wouldn't be surprised on the 18z if it transferred farther south, allowing more ice/snow a little farther south and east. But only a guessing game on that part.
In terms of the temp profiles, I feel like the CMC may be a bit too warm, that is a much considerable stronger HP to the north compared to the December storm(I believe?). Verbatim, it should at some point show a better push of cold air. Or if it just pushes down a bit south faster, it'll be game on for many.
Edit* FV3 also has a better placement for the HP compared to the CMC, which is why I don't really buy the Miller B option it's showing.

The Bears had one job. beat the #6 Eagles. I wanted that so I would watch the Saints tear apart the Cowboys this coming Sunday in the revenge game. But nope, gotta watch my favorite team go against the only other team I was pulling for in the playoffs go at it.
-
May be time to get this room running again for some.
-
FV3 with a jump to a miller B look, although different from other solutions, it is a lot closer in line to the Miller A's that are popping up, compared to it's 6z run.
-
12z FV3 moves to a Miller B. Consider that a sizable jump towards the non American solution.

Also I'll add as for a true pattern change it may take the whole month of January. As I had mentioned in the mid to long range thread an SSW does not mean automatic cold for us. Things have to line up in several places especially the pac jet which is just screaming in currently. Get comfortable with this crap pattern because we are going to have it around for a bit.
Yea I'm honestly just grasping at straws. the fact that even the mountains have to essentially punt a whole month is pathetic, i'm just glad we got over half of our annual snowfall already, because we;re gonna be lucky to get the rest. Supposed to be going to Ober around the 20th for my annual winter vacation, and as usual, looks like i'll be dodging more rocks and crap on the slopes than snow itself.

looks like the 14th is our "go time" according to the FV3. I assume the current OP says something similar, but I don't even check it anymore.

Well for the first time ever, I wish the year wasnt ending, atually been an extremely good year. But let's see what 2019 has in store. Go Saints.

I also read on Facebook that people think that OU would have beaten Clemson. Lol no.

Notre Dame was such a farce. Nice work by Clemson. Let's expand this thing to eight teams soon. Give UCF a chance too. I guess we'll see how good they are when they match up against LSU on Tuesday.

Needs to be an 8 team playoff. Notre Dame looked good coming in, but when you look at their schedule, most of it was crap, them getting blown out did not surprise me one bit. I still believe Georgia should've been in besides OU, and yes, give UCF a freakin chance.

Just read Robert's post, hes one of the few people who post on FB regarding weather that is actually with reading. Hope his page doesnt get taken down, unless somehow he winds up back here.

GFS says hello to the PV after New Years. CMC doesn't run that far on the OP, but you can see the cold coming down as well. Post New Years is going to be a wild ride.

Really jealous of some of the forum. Really havent had any accumulation in Boone over the last several hours, just went by work and it looked the same as when I got off at 9pm.
-
Well it's kinda boring in Boone tbh. I dont believe its actually below freezing yet so no snow on the roads.
-
3k NAM is juicy, more so than the 12k.
-
Not sure I buy the higher totals the nam is pushing out. seems like we had an event earlier where the NAM increased totals then pulled back at the last second. Think it was a NWFS event or something similar.
-
I'm spending the evening on the porch with a glass of wine watching the sunset. I know we all want snow, but for now, this is honestly perfect weather while we wait.

Used to live in Indian Trail before moving to the mountains, the number of times I watched it rain while charlotte and NW got sleet or snow was agonizing.
