My dad would tell me stories about working in the blizzard of 78. I would then tell him I wish I was out there with him. He would say " no you don't ".
I think this might be my time to find out why he said that.
The mets on TV are hesitant to jump on this with both feet. Some 6+ maps out there already but the hedging of "this could be more" has already started. Two days ago most locals here were on the OTS train. EURO sucked them in. Very different than our January storm in terms of forecast consistency.
Have to give the gfs credit. Its like a dog with a bone on this one. Will not let go. Disappointed in the rest of the guidance if this goes the gfs route.
All this talk of averages reminds me that the local mets mentioned boston is at 41" and we're only about 9 inches from normal. When did KBOS go to 50 for an average? Most of my life it has been about 40", maybe 43? Did the post 90s kick in?
Late winter storms are the best. Snow, followed by AN temps typically meaning melt off is fast and residual ice is rarely a problem. Longer days also meaning less work at night.
