  1. Turning out to be a warm day. Busted mostly cloudy forecast. I'm in Hauppauge. Sunny and 74 according to the closest WU PWS
  2. When i lived in Shirley, I planted a windmill in 2010. I covered with burlap each winter but it succumbed to the cold Feb 2015 we had.
  3. Back on LI for 2 weeks. Just love the marine influence smell here. Something I really took for granted while I lived here and never noticed that much until I moved away. Even though it was coolish today, the air had a humid Martine feel that I now miss living in central NC. Below is a photo taken at the TWA memorial at Smith Point Beach around 6pm today where it was in the low 60s at that time.

  5. 73 high - low 43 - it HAS been dry- also lack of humidity. Dewpoint high this month so far has only been 60, whereas last year it was 73 only 0.22" for the month so far, which occurred on the 1st
  6. 68/47 split yesterday - low this AM - 39 / Second time it dipped below 40 this month.

  9. Chilly start to October. Had to give in and turn on the heat today - started off sunny but became overcast by about 11am High - 63 Lo - 45
  10. 50/76 split on the day, didn't get as low as i thought it would, clouds throughout the night - kept temps up
  11. 73/46 split on the day today already down to 54 at 8:30pm. I think I'll bottom out 42-44 range

  13. I just wanted to express how I hate that climate change is political game, rather than everyone taking it seriously. We had a problem with CFCs in the 1980s and it was REAGAN who was involved with the banning of CFCs. Now the GOPs stance is that climate change is a hoax.

  15. great day today - have all of the windows opened 78/56 split on the day currently - sunny - 75/60 hopefully the dry Strech does not last too long -the rain we've been getting lately has been nice
  16. 81/63 split on the day pretty nice overall getting ready for a possible dousing this weekend
  17. 80/67 split on the day had a heavy shower roll through at 1pm today - one of the heaviest rates in a while at 2.2" per hour - dropped 0.42" in 20 minutes - which was today's total

  19. great day today - amazing that a 62-65 dewpoint feels dry. currently - sunny - 86/65 high - 89 low - 65 ----month stats --- High - 97 Low - 60 Dew Hi - 81 Dew Lo - 53 Rain - 5.21 ---- Met Summer Stats High - 101 Low- 48 Dew hi - 81 Dew lo - 39 Rain - 10.42 (only 0.99 in June) Notables: only 4 days where the high was below 80
  20. squall line moved through with 0.32" of rain. that brings me up to 5.21" for the month nice change from July today's split - 92/69 now - clearing with rainbow- 72/73
  21. I've always wondered why the oak trees on the south Shore are so small, thin and not too tall. I've always assumed storm damage and winds but maybe cyclical droughts cause them to die off now and then..
  22. a CAD day today - high of only 72 - socked in with clouds all day
  23. Don't forget dewpoint goal of at least 80
