My son got an Ambient ws5000 and he got a temperature probe to put in the ground to monitor the ground temperature. Might be useful when snowstorms, sleet and freezing rain are forecast this winter. He's also transmitting his data to NWS in State College on some program he joined that's operated by NWS. Every 5 min data is transmitted to them
I believe there are changes coming, but will it translate into big snows, winter storms and cold? Or will be left with change over storms and marginal temps? It's been quite awhile since most of us experienced true winter weather.
We have 2 hanging baskets of miniature Petunia plants. There not in the best shape. But they are still blooming in December. They have endured numerous frosts and temps as low as 17 degrees. I never seen an annual do this before. All the other annuals succumbed to the frost. This must be one hardy species. Also the grass is still green here too!
Peters Mountain in the winter months is like a dividing point that separates slightly warmer conditions to the south of it and colder conditions to the north. It's amazing how that happens. You go from no snow to the south of it to snow laying on the ground north of it. I seen it several times. It separates Dauphin County on the weather side.
And so it begins the icy roads and accidents.

Give yourself extra time this morning....Peter's Mtn is apparently closed ( they are detouring everyone across Mtn Rd).
