It's a snow gap, not a snow hole. I'm not impressed.

At some point you just have to marvel at it.

I'll drop this here. Hopefully people read it.

Neary EVERY single event here that produces will have a suite or several suites of models early in the short range that are overdone. Often waaaaay overdone. Expect it. Understand it. Respect it. But whatever you do dont hug it. EVER.

    Anyone? Hello? [Crickets]

    Especially any model from Canada.

I like that analogy.  That was a distinct overperformer and very location dependent. it was dumping snow in Fairfax during the morning rush while it was doing almost nothing over the beltway in Silver Spring.

Yep, I think one of these coming waves can hopefully produce!  I worked in Tysons at the time and had to take several coworkers home in my CRV which was a champ in snow.

Generally that only happens with lighter moisture starved systems, this system isn’t moisture starved.  Plus the mountains aren’t like the Sierra’s and we aren’t like Nevada.

Also, the Gulf of Mexico seems to be open for business, low level winds blowing from the south into the system feeding moisture.  That’s the whole magic with this system warm moist air from the south, the cold from the north = moisture and a steady long duration over running event.  Notice there is no potent vort or shortwave for this system.

I want/need someone much smarter than me to explain how the moisture wouldn't just get eaten up by the mountains in the Piedmont area given how this system will be moving..

The last time the Bucs won the Super Bowl decidedly happened to be during a pretty memorable winter for us

In fact the only other NFC South team to win also was during a great wintry stretch, the Saints in Feb 2010. I remember having to drive to my grandparents' house to watch the game because we didn't have power.

We lost cable in 2010 due to the snowstorm, it came back 30 minutes prior to the game, I fell asleep on the couch before halftime, exhausted from shoveling snow all day.  Good times!
