  1. A little bit farther than that but I can get most of my needs in Pulaski about 6 miles away.. I'm 30 miles from smaller cities like Oswego and Fulton and about 40 miles from Syracuse and Watertown..
  2. Can't take these numbers verbatim but it "may" snow..
  3. Well below normal temperatures are a certainty through next weekend as a deep longwave trough remains anchored over eastern North America. A highly amplified +PNA pattern will continue for at least the next 10 days, with a strong western ridge and eastern trough. This will continue to direct fresh batches of modified arctic air southward into the Great Lakes and New England. Looking at the details, a shortwave and associated weak surface reflection will move from the Ohio Valley to the Mid Atlantic Wednesday and Wednesday night. The better chances of precipitation will remain just south of our area with this track, with just a relatively low chance of a few light showers mainly across the Southern Tier. Our region will be between systems on Thursday, although cold air aloft and local terrain/differential heating boundaries may support a few widely scattered showers. Friday and Saturday the trough reloads across the Great Lakes, with a highly anomalous 525DM or lower 500MB vortex dropping into the Great Lakes and New England. While the large scale pattern is well agreed upon in model guidance, the finer synoptic scale details have shown some variation with some semblance of an east coast low possible on Saturday. Most model runs have kept direct impacts of this potential system east of our area, although the strong upper level trough and deep instability beneath the cold pool will support numerous rain and wet snow showers Saturday. Temperatures will trend even colder by Saturday, with highs only in the low to mid 40s at best if there are breaks of sun. Overcast skies would only yield highs in the 30s given 850mb temps approaching -10C. &&
  4. I thought this was an interesting article, especially considering I just started drinking kefir Milk which is amazing by the way..I have gerd and have been having dijestive issues for weeks due to my anxiety... No one knows exactly why some patients are affected more than others, but a new study from China (that has not yet been peer-reviewed) makes a provocative assertion: the health of the gut microbiome may predict the severity of the disease. The healthier the gut, the better the outcome. That may be something to cheer about, because you can improve your microbiome in a matter of days just by changing your diet. It could save your life. Scientists have started to realize that many of the chronic diseases of modern life are significantly associated with systemic inflammation and gut dysbiosis—a loose term that implies an unbalanced, unhealthy gut microbiome. Many of these inflammatory diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension, are also associated with COVID-19 complications. There is a psychological angle to this as well, due to the two-way nature of the gut-brain axis. The state of your microbiome can affect your disposition: the microbes that contribute to a good mood are called psychobiotics. But nature is nothing if not convoluted, and your mood can also affect your microbiome. The implication is that anxiety and depression may add to the complications of a COVID-19 infection
  5. I have never seen snow in may, so that's all I'm hoping for lol
  6. The sudden disappearance of sports will erase at least $12 billion in revenue and hundreds of thousands of jobs, an economic catastrophe that will more than double if the college football and NFL schedules are wiped out this fall by the coronavirus pandemic, an analysis conducted for ESPN shows. The meltdown is a fraction of the crisis spreading across the country, but it is nonetheless historic, touching every sector of the $100 billion United States sports industry. Continue reading
  7. On and off drizzle all day today, quite foggy as well..
  8. Just as I was getting ready to post a sports article lol MLB is discussing a potential plan to start the season in late June and allow teams to play at their home ballparks with realigned divisions, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. The proposed plan involves realigning MLB into three divisions based on teams' locations rather than the National and American Leagues. The new divisions would help reduce travel, and teams would play with no fans in attendance. Nightengale reports the new plan is "pending approval of medical experts and providing that COVID-19 testing is available to the public." It would eliminate the need for players to be in isolation, although it remains unknown if teams would open the season in Arizona, Texas and Florida for a few weeks. MLB could potentially have a 100-game regular season before holding the playoffs with an expanded format. According to Nightengale, players are expected to have 18 to 21 days to train at teams' Arizona or Florida spring training sites before starting the season. Here's a look at the reported possible realigned divisions: EAST: Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox Miami Marlins New York Mets New York Yankees Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates Tampa Bay Rays Toronto Blue Jays Washington Nationals WEST: Arizona Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Angels Los Angeles Dodgers Houston Astros Oakland Athletics San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners Texas Rangers CENTRAL: Atlanta Braves Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds Cleveland Indians Detroit Tigers Kansas City Royals St. Louis Cardinals Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins There are more than one million confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, with nearly 60,000 deaths. Worldwide, more than 215,000 people have died of the disease.

  10. The Little League World Series will not be played this year for the first time since the organization began because of the coronavirus pandemic. Little League International, which announced the move Thursday, also canceled regional tournaments but said the events would return in 2021. The Little League World Series has been played each year since the first tournament in 1947. "After a thorough assessment of the impact the devastating COVID-19 pandemic has had on 6,500 community-based Little League programs in 84 countries and based upon the direction of governmental and public health authorities, and in consultation with medical professionals and our Board of Directors, Little League International has made the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel its seven World Series tournaments and their respective regional qualifying events," the organization said in a statement.
  11. Two of the biggest employers around the area, Fulton boilers and Felix Schuller are pretty much operating at full staff..They are wearing ppe as well as keeping up with social distancing as much as they can, seems to be working with only a few cases in the local area...
  12. Nice to see some businesses still hanging in there or thriving...The old lady says business at RaC has been up as well.. PULASKI, N.Y. — A small Oswego County business that makes air purifiers is seeing record demand for it its product on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. The Healthway Family of Brands is a small family-run company that up until two months ago employed less than 30 people. However, thanks to their patented air purification technology, business has been booming. The company’s air purifiers have been scientifically proven to be 40x more efficient than traditional air purifiers in removing ultrafine particles, including viruses, from the air. Company president Vinny Lobdell says since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, demand for the company's air purifiers has skyrocketed. "The impact to our business has been considerable. We're probably producing ten times the amount of product compared to this time last year. So just understanding the significant demand globally it has really impacted our business,” Lobdell says. Locally, National Grid and Crouse Hospital are both using Healthway’s air purifiers. Lobdell says it is an honor to have a product that is made in Pulaski being used locally and around the globe to help combat the coronavirus. "Our company here is just really proud of the fact that our solutions are being trusted to use worldwide on the frontlines,” he says. The company is now expanding its operations in Pulaski. Just this past week, it purchased an additional 10,000 square foot building in the area and plans are in the works to build a brand new 20,000 square foot facility in the next few months
  13. Obviously not surprising.. Derek Jeter and the other members of the 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame class will have to wait another year before taking the stage in Cooperstown. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced Wednesday that its board of directors voted unanimously to cancel the 2020 Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the surrounding events scheduled for July 24-27 due to health and safety concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the 2020 class will now be honored alongside the 2021 class next July.

  16. Just like what's the odds Redfield catches a case? Pretty much zilch, nada, zero lol Population density of 6 people per mile lol Heck I'm pretty surprised towns like Orwell and Boylston have a confirmed positive..
  17. Yeah if you add up the tri counties of Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis you have about 130 cases with a population of near 260k..To put that in perspective my in-laws down in CNJ have over 150 confirmed cases with a population of 34k..Once again it's all about population density and being much more spread out..
