  1. Might have been a reach being out there but I was out at the pond again this evening. The only clouds were to the north east when I got out there... Best color was to the south east with the back edge of the departing system... This was just an experiment of how late I could take a color shot...
  2. Well, I was not going to take any pictures today but the rain moving in looked decent so I fired off a couple from the sidewalk in front of the house. In this one I managed to capture a lightning bolt. Can your see it? I am surprised it looks as good as it does seeing how this was shot at 22mm. The better image was a little bit later when the base was almost directly overhead...
  3. I thought I might get a night off from the pond but nooooooooooo. The latest system pulled out right around sunset. Looking north east when I got out there... Local sunset... A lot of orange... The little bit of red that the atmosphere gave me...
  4. Was not sure what the evening would bring for a sunset but I had to be out there, just in case. When I got out to the pond. Could see that clearing to the far west. Thought maybe it could do something if I got lucky... While waiting on the Sun to go down, here is a view to the south. You can see the building of moisture in that direction... I did get lucky post sunset and the sky lit up...
  5. A system coming out of the Gulf, giving me the northern edge of clouds but leaving the west open to allow me to have post sunset light, is a great way to have a colorful sunset. Local sunset and white clouds... Orange clouds... And red clouds...
  6. Race Day in Indiana. The unofficial start of summer in these parts. The sunset was not too shabby this year also. Looking north east when I got to the pond... The beginning of the post sunset color. Does it look hot and humid? It was... Best color dynamics... Best extent of color...
  7. A great way to start off the holiday weekend. With a little bit of clouds and a little bit of color. When I first got to the pond... As you can see in this south east view, someone is getting rain. It just isn't me, again... A little bit of red sneaking in under the cloud bank... Looks like someone left open the door to the kiln … I thought maybe that was going to be it for color. Glad I stuck around a little bit more. The max red was vivid and filling of the 16-35mm even wide open...
  8. Last night I had the color, but not the clouds. Tonight I had the clouds but not the color. But seeing how I still got another night at the pond, everything is great and fantastic.
  9. Same Bat Place, Same Bat Channel... Local sunset. There was some cirrus way, way up there... I kept hoping that cirrus would take off and really turn red but this was the best it would do... Best color was super late with the 100mm. I like the red to blue graduation but especially the green tinge...
  10. My love affair with sunset clouds continued this evening. Local sunset... The yellow with a faint sun pillar... Orange turning to red. Looks like a dolphin after a frog or baitfish on the right side... Way past the best but I like the subtle colors. And there always be another sunset, soonest...
  11. Back Home Again in Indiana, at the pond where I belong... With the 16-35mm and a sun dog on the right also some crepuscular rays on the left... With the 24-70mm around local sunset... Back with the 16-35mm for the post sunset color...
  12. Another fantastic night at the pond this evening. Perfect clouds, nice colors, a great night to be outside. I see a 70's era Don Henley or Don Brewer (drummer for Grand Funk Railroad) here. Do you see it?... Starting off the color with white... A rather large a broad crepuscular ray here... Orange here, leaning towards red... Max red and the end of a great night...
  13. Some better and more varied colors for tonight's sunset at the pond. Pre-sunset... Best light dynamics post sunset... The red flash as the light was waning...
  14. Yes, Indiana has all kinds of clouds.
  15. Finally caught a break yesterday. It rained. So I was able to try and catch up on some sleep. But I was back out at the pond again this evening. Last peek of the Sun for the day... The wind did die down later on in the sunset. So I got to play with the reflections.... Everything was rather blue this evening. So I tried a B&W treatment to ease the over saturation of blue...
  16. Day number nine in a row and still counting. This has to end soon but it did not tonight. I thought with the retrograding system that we might have a shot at some color. In retrospect, I am surprised it was as good as it was, looking at the visible satellite just now. With the 16-35mm... With the 100mm...
  17. And now for day number eight in a row. Pre-sunset looking west... Best color post-sunset was looking east...
  18. Although I thought it might be a stretch, I was out at the pond for day seven in a row. It was spitting rain when I first went out there. Turned into a gentle shower by the time I left. Pre-sunset... After this I left as the light was starting to leave and the rain was not letting up. But just as I got a little bit down the road, the sky started turning red. So I turned around and drove back to the pond. I had to rush with the set up and just threw the camera up next to the car so this last image looks rather pedestrian. But here is the last of the red flash with the rain being illuminated.
  19. Day number six in a row for sunsets at the pond. Although today was all pre-sunset. The MCS in Mo. and Il. kind of put a kibosh on any post sunset color. Started off with some crepuscular rays. Nice searchlight. Things started falling apart as the Sun got deeper into the MCS clouds. Last image before the light got shut off completely...
  20. Day five in a row here this evening. Although it was a close thing. The clouds broke just in time for the post sunset color. A little bit of a spotlight going on here... The last of the vivid color...
  21. Been real lucky here. This is the fourth night in a row with colorful, interesting sunsets. Must be living right. Local sunset... The most vivid of the post sunset color... This is way past the best but I like all the subtle colors after the craziness of earlier.
  22. The post sunset was a bit more vivid than I thought it was going to be. Good thing I took the effort to be at the pond, just in case.
  23. This evening at the pond. Around local sunset... About the best of the post sunset color... While this last image is past the peak, I like on the right side behind the dark clouds and that single tree, a bit of a sun pillar going on. Something I so not see very often and photograph even less.
  24. Tonight's sunset. What I started with... What I ended with...
  25. Nice evening for the third night in a row out at the pond. Local sunset with white clouds... Post sunset with orange clouds... And post sunset with red clouds...
