  1. APX moved SW of gaylord about 15 years ago, before that most records were kept at the Airport in Gaylord I believe which sees about 15% less snow then its current location yearly.
  2. I would think APX should have good records for my area since the NWS is only about 8 miles east of my location , although their website isn't the best they do have some pages for snowfall etc.
  3. I would be curious to see if Northern Mi and and UP have had similar climate changes in the same period. I have had relatively limited time up here about 8 years so don't have much to base my own experience.
  4. Yea Gaylord City area is a little less, they missed out on the recent LES, it stayed south of town towards my area. In a WNW flow Southern Otsego does better. Regardless all areas are in a sad state, and I agree about the sport. Although I will say I was an avid snowmobiler until I moved up here then the fun kind of dwindled away. Maybe part because you get a little burned out of shoveling. driving. looking at snow from Nov to April (Normal years) although I love it it does take some of the fun away. also the sport is very expensive for as little as you can enjoy it versus Summer/warm activites such as Sxs/ATVs etc which can be used all year.
  5. Been a long time, we usually cash in on clippers with extended period NW Winds doesn't seem to be the norm the past few years. My first couple years up in Gaylord area we were hitting 175"+ year ever year, the past 3 or 4 not even hitting the average around 140-150. Again sounds pretty petty when other areas cant even muster 40" but when living in snowbelts you just get used to heavy yearly snow.
  6. Such an odd winter with the majority of our snow being synoptic so far, usually 70% is from LES. We haven't really had to many synoptic events in the past few years besides a few clippers here and there. Next few weeks look pretty tough for everyone regarding storms and Cold/LES chances. As you said at least the lakes will not freeze. Still about 25" below normal on the year around 40% deficit doubtful we hit average this year among most everyone.
  7. Yea, it was coming down at 1-2" an hour for a while in that band, definitely has settled some already. I was at about 12" otg at my house which is about 14 miles SW of Gaylord near LON on C38.
  8. Picked up another 3-4" overnight of Fluff, finally looks like winter around here. Not LES related but looking like upwards of 6" of cement for tomorrow and another decent look for Friday/Saturday. Nice to be able to use the new Snow Plow (probably why the winter has been so terrible :))
  9. Ripping LES right now picked up another 4" since this morning, starting picking up again around 7, could pick up another 3-4 before it shuts down later this evening as winds veer form the south with the approaching system. Looking like 3-6" of cement followed by another couple inches of LES from tomorrows system. Friday.Satruday may be another shot at some synoptic. Slowly gaining from the slow start.
  10. Ended up with about 10", looking at a few more the next few days but nothing significant.
  11. Ha tells you all you need to know about this winter. The thread is only about a week old, normally we have a thread around mid-late November. Last years thread was only a few pages long the whole season as well. LES just hasn't been very good the past few years.
  12. I couldn't imagine if your area actually had decent elevation, I'm at about 1500' if you were close to ne you would be your own Tug.
  13. I would agree to an extend, anyone familiar with LES in Michigan knows the Gaylord Area, Obviously the UP areas (Keweenaw, Huron Mtn, and Grand Marais area) are in their onw league but Gaylord isn't to far behind. If it wasn't for Beaver Island and Lake Michigan freezing towards winter end Gaylord would average over 200"+ easily.
  14. Been dumping snow the past 2 hours, heaviest LES ive seen all year. Picked up almost 4" since the picked back up this evening.
  15. About 6" on top of the 5" i had after the ran. Nothing earth shattering just steady light snow been primarily a NNW flow which isn't best for my area, need a NW or WNW to get the best banding, Sunday Night into Monday night looking pretty good, then maybe Near Years Eve LES looks like something to watch. I did see a report over in Western UP that had 16" near ironwood.
  16. Certainly not eye popping LES totals but a decent first event for the season.
  17. I'm betting somewhere in your neck of the woods and in the Tug see's over 2'+
  18. I am thinking 6-10" for my area, depending on banding, I'm sure somewhere will see over a 12". Wind profiles not the best setup. GFS seems reasonable
  19. Potentially looking at our first decent LES event of the season beginning tomorrow night through the holiday weekend. Certainly not the best setup for NWL and the UP but the bar has been set low. SWL is looking decent as well. Does not appear we have had a dedicated LES thread in a couple years, obviously we do not have a lot of members in the LES belts but thought I would start one again anyway.
  20. True but as with anything in life its all relative, I'm still about 25" down on snowfall IMBY, APX is about `20". Many areas in this sub only average 25-50" for the year. At leas local impacts really don't matter at this point due to COVID already destroying it.
  21. Definitely looks pretty good for your area, not expecting to much in NWL Mich, having probably the worst LES season I have experienced since moving up here back in 2012. It was bound to happen sometime. UP just as bad..
  22. About 8" so far should be able to get my first double digit total this winter, finally looks like winter here.
  23. I think a relaxing of outdoors type of events should be feasible, would be nice if my campground would be open, also boating, golfing. As others have said perhaps opening up some stores on a very cautious social distance. We were going the right direction regarding new cases and deaths until today. Deaths shot way up and cases also increased from previous day although they did change how they are reporting deaths now.
