Back when Al Michaels, Dan Dierdorf, and Frank Gifford called the games. Pretty cool Al Michaels is still calling games, been hearing him since I was a kid. Gonna be sad/end of an era when he finally retires.
On this night back in 1987 things were about to get extremely exciting. Still remember watching Monday night football as the snow started to fall. It was the beginning of the infamous Dec 14-15 blizzard that brought 60-90mph winds over parts of IL and WI along with frequent thundersnow. If I had to relive one of the top 5 blizzards since I've been alive I'd still probably choose this one. Didn't put out as much snow GHDI but the ferocity was a tad higher for this immediate area. I was only 10 but still can remember it like it was yesterday.
May get a little thunder around here later this evening. Might be the highlight of the month the way it's going lol. Models show 0.5-0.7" of rain for the QCA this evening.
Sure miss big December storms like this one 14 years ago today in 2009. 8-12" for the QC, about a foot for much of central and eastern Iowa. At least we have events like this to look back on and reminisce lol.
I wish there was a way to look at models that have been decommissioned. I seriously think the AVN back in the early 2000s was way better than the latest few GFS versions.
Youtube needs to change it's name to Hypetube. Seems like every video (weather forecast related especially) is overly hyped, especially by the video title or vid graphic. I get that each youtuber is trying to make their vids pop for views, but it's really dumbing down the site.
Picked up about a half inch of snow here. Ripped pretty good for about a half hour, then had rain mix in for about an hour and melted most of the snow, but now has snowed hard enough to re-dust up the ground again.
Radar shows mixing moving in from the west out near the QC, so may see it mix with rain here in a little while. Quickly dusted up the ground already though.
Decent rain event with this wave, with 0.34" of rain so far this evening. It's in the process of changing to snow currently. May pick up an inch or so by morning.
