  1. Got some 55+mph gusts for sure with the first few minutes of the storm. Quality event to be sure. Hawkeye likely lost power. He for sure would have been on here by now telling the tale.
  2. LMAO! As soon as I posted the above the northern end flared up.
  3. That's some serious wind at MLI lol. Hearing of lots of power outages from peeps in the QC, which isn't too surprising. Looks like we'll just get grazed with a moderate thundershower here which is fine with me. Don't want no part of that 80mph crap lol.
  4. MLI managed an AOA 90 today. Currently at 91. Here on the other side of the remnant OFB it has warmed up quite a bit, but not as toasty as south of it. Currently 87/71.
  5. Great looking thunderhead boiling up in the southeastern sky. Watched the storm split, and now has two large updrafts. Crystal clear overhead so have an awesome look at it.
  6. Can see the stalled remnant outflow boundary just to my south with some agitated cu bubbling up. Looks as if it could pop into a storm in a short while. Was sort of fun watching that large updraft to the northwest this morning die away and leave a large orphan anvil canopy with mammatus. The left (southwest) side of the updraft looked very impressive for awhile when it was first visible on the northwestern horizon. Would have loved to get a time lapse of that evolution.
  7. Have a streak of 8 days AOA 90 here and MLI, but that ends today. Looks like no more 90s until Mon or Tue. Euro has backed off on the big heat for the DVN cwa compared to previous runs for next week.
  8. Another view of the tornado above from Scott Peake. Make sure to override the settings (that many times defaults to a lower res) and choose 4K quality. The final 20 seconds or so is truly remarkable. What this and other vids like it show is the extreme acceleration of wind at a given point as the vortex propagates through. The extraordinary violence of such acceleration of wind, combined with rapid changes in wind direction is what has to be one of the most damaging aspects of any tornado. It's not just peak wind speed and flying debris.
  9. Best rain in a month. Picked up 1.15" with some 30mph gusts and quite a bit of thunder. Classic summer non-severe thunderstorm. I'm pretty sure I heard the lawn singing a little while ago.
  10. Have undercut trashvection coming this way. Looks like we'll be lucky to get 1/3-1/2". Heaviest will miss just south. EDIT: Looking better now.
  11. It's erroneous enough that DVN or whoever should go out and take a look at that sensor. Could be legit for a variety of reasons, but I'd hope they would check it to be sure. MLI hit 91 today.
  12. Pretty cool how you see the large limb fall off the tree at 31 sec, and gets sucked into the tor and flings around on the left side around 40 sec mark.
  13. Apparently there was another landspout tornado earlier today about 20 miles northeast of here near Sterling. 2nd one this week. What a strange year.
  14. 94 at MLI. Cedar Rapids finally hit 90.
  15. Picked up 0.07" here late this afternoon from some developing storms. Eventually it went severe warned to the south. Drove through it on the way home. Very heavy rain and strong winds. Was quite refreshing.
  16. Pretty optimistic that we'll cash in on some good downpours Thursday afternoon or evening. Will be nice to see something other than wussy 5kt H5 flow pulse trash.
  17. Incorrect, we just cashed in with 0.01" of rain.
  18. Refreshing outflow blew in and knocked temps down over 10 degrees in a short time. The rains will skirt the area per usual.
  19. Nice little downpour at work early this afternoon. I ran out and stood in it for a bit, felt great lol.
  20. The Euro has been 3-5 degrees too cool for this area for the last few months at least. Applying that to the 12z keeps a never-ending streak of 90s going through the next 10 days. Thursday is close to being in jeopardy though as clouds/precip are close by. For the whole run we get 0.11" of rain.
  21. MLI hit 94, hit 97 here which is probably a few degrees too high. Very dry ground beneath station and nearly calm wind likely added a few degrees.
  22. 93 at MLI and 94 here today. Wind was pretty calm so even with the lower dews in the 60s it was a bit uncomfortable. Front yard is baking. The corn across the street, and the field behind the back yard still look okay, but the leaves curl up pretty good during the heat of the day.
  23. 92 here. MLI languishing at 89 due to a thicker cu field there, although they have hit 90 already.
