See I think they should have for consistency purposes. It's hard to justify one sector being shut down, when then manufacturing people are doing the same thing but in a factory. Again though the overreach by Gov. Whitmer is deplorable and she should absolutely lose re-election regardless of party. To tell people what they can and cannot buy in stores, and that they cannot go to second homes is insanity. I understand the intent, but this is America.

I see you're from MA, but in the Midwest almost all factories have been deemed essential. I know the company I work for has had no problems, we're even working in the NYC metro area currently.

Well I think the whole issue is a lack of balance. So many of these governors look stupid in my opinion (looking at you Michigan) because THEY'VE ALLOWED FACTORIES TO REMAIN OPEN. I'm sorry but that's the biggest crux of the issue, you are unable to go to your cottage or even buy certain things at the store in some states, but can go work 8-10 hours in a factory with hundreds of people indoors. I think we had to buy ourselves time, and we did that while saving hospital capacity. But holy smokes you're limiting peoples incomes in this instance as well as the economy's ability to produce and sell goods. Those are two very bad things

Oh I agree with social distancing working! But all of precautions we have currently I think will limit exponential growth until we have a vaccine. Also our therapy options have improved via Resmidvir and hospital capacity remains quite safe. But yes you do have to think of the money as well. We have 30 MILLION people unemployed right now and many businesses shuttered. Our economy is not able to manufacture and sell goods well at all currently, and we’re about to see a foreclosure wave that will shock the country.

Yeah it’s probably time to rip the band-aid off and reopen. We’ve stopped it from destroying our health system which is terrific. But economically this is becoming devastating quickly, hell the entire city of Las Vegas is probably going to be unemployed in a month. I think I really didn’t expect it all to wind up being this horrifying. I figured it’d be tough, but we’re staring at thousands dead and an economic depression. Just think it’s time to expect there is no win in this battle

Humidity has ticked up considerably through the evening. My dew point was 61° at 8 PM, has since gone up to 68°. That is feeding these storms nocturnally. Was not expecting multiple tornado warnings in Charlotte this evening, not bad for a slight risk

Just not sure we have the humidity today for this. I mean Charlotte is only 150 miles away as the crow flies and we had hardly a cloud in the sky. Not very ripe conditions for tornadoes

Helicity is really high up in the Charlotte metro area but these storms have outran their instability. Far too stable of an atmosphere for them to run past Charlotte and I expect weakening soon

It looks like a very quiet pattern ahead for us. That trough is going to park right off the coast and bring 80 degree daily highs here in Lowcountry

I don’t know if I agree with the SPC and many on here. Probably will have egg on my face but Atlanta is already in the clear and it’s 11 AM. Looking at the mesoscale analysis there is a ton of CAPE starting to filter into MS/AL. Idk I just see this current MCS laying down an OFB for later on today

Yeah that blob of rain should be out of here by Noon. Georgia should be in the clear earlier than that

Seeing what happened today in TX, OK and LA makes me think we’re going to be in for a doozy today. Warm sector stayed fairly clear, and the flow into this deepening low should help aid any atmospheric recovery tomorrow. In addition the morning convection will more than likely put down boundaries for the afternoon.
