GFS and Euro both hinting at the first shot of LES next weekend, and ensembles have trended colder as well...hope it holds. Bring it on!

Sounds good to me!  It would be right on schedule with the past few years first les.  Grass cutting appears to be over and the majority of leaves have dropped.

  2. Wow that's a pretty remarkable stretch! Hopefully we can flip the switch to cold and snowy in 3-4 weeks.   I'd be all for a lighter Nov snow if we can have a good Dec.   The last few years have barely managed any snow in Dec.  In fact, I believe April was snowier than Dec last year.

Leaves are really coming down now with the rain and cooler temps.

  3. Definitely starting to see some color on the trees now, as well as some leaves falling .  Seems a few weeks behind.   Hopefully this isn't the year we get a big early lake effect event with all of the trees holding leaves for a few weeks longer than normal.  Looks like 40s for lows appearing in the forecast now.

Lot's of branches down this morning after last nights storm. Slept right through it unfortunately. Anyone have radar images? Woke up and my yard was covered in branches and leaves. Lots of large branches down in spots.

Yep, lots of leaves and branches down.  Saw a few good sized trees down near Solon too.   The wind was very impressive!   I believe the warning mentioned 60 mpH winds.

You can view historical radar data here, but I can't get yesterday's to work properly. www.wunderground.com/weather-radar/united-states/oh/cleveland/cle/history/?date=2016-07-13

  5. CLE least snowiest winter on record cancel.

It's a shame the best snow will probably be while most are sleeping, but if you want a big snow this time of year, night is the time for that to happen. It's pretty much a lock that this will be the biggest storm of the season for the TOL-CLE corridor.

Yep, should be fun! Glad that the airport looks to be in line for the good snows too.

Is the warning criteria 8"? Might push that at some places. Don't think we have had any wsw this winter.

  6. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, snow accumulates this week during the cold snap.

Saturday night's thundersnow was probably the best thundersnow I've experienced. Lots of lightning in rapid succession.

It helped that the snowfall occurred after sunset for accumulations. This time of year you need intense rates and nightfall to really get snow to stick. But minutes after it stopped, the snow started melting here from the ground up. The pavement was covered in snow during the squall, but 15 minutes later it had completely melted from paved surfaces, even with air temperatures falling into the 20s.

Ya driveway was covered here until the morning, and quickly cleared.

GFS still shows several inches of snow in the next week.... Have to think some lake effect might happen with the cold shots too.
