It sure has been a Dec to forget. Sitting around 20" for the season here isn't far off of the past few years at this point, but still a long ways to go. At least the lake is staying ice free and relatively warm.
Ya it made it longer that I thought it would.
Looks like winter makes a return around new year's. Until then I'm enjoying the warmer temps and dry weather!
Had 1.5" on the deck this morning. Mostly from the Arctic front, but probably a little from yesterday afternoon as well. Total so far 2.5". Looks like some lake effect is trying to flare up.
I've got 11.5" on my deck. Measured in a dozen spots to verify away from the house. Incremental measurements my "fill-in" spotter took add up to 13". I'll see what other reports come in.
Heavier precip should help the temps drop. Don't think any accumulating snow was supposed to start until this evening.
Edit; just saw this in the discussion "
Slight concern that snow amounts will be
lower with the warmer air lingering into the evening across the
east. However for now we will not tweak them lower and remain
consistent with the previous forecast."
Looking over the snowfall reports, looks like the event was focused east of here...even some decent reports south.
Getting a nice flare up of a few bands. Not sure if they will amount to too much.
I was a bit surprised the snow stuck around all day with the warm ground, sunshine and temps above freezing.
Looks like tonight's event is mainly for northern areas, but will be interesting to see.
