  1. maybe not; sleet is a real hazard and they would rather not give people the idea its ok to hit up the bars at the jersey shore.....
  2. its been my experience that, when this happens, even areas expected to do well fall short. seen it a thousand times. i don't think anyone is gonna get buried at this point. that's been my experience over the years.
  3. yeah you called it. i'm not expecting much to talk about in my neck of the woods. any time i hear about warm noses, waa etc it almost never works out for my area. hopefully we get some better rates but i'm not putting money on it.
  4. a couple inches of sleet is great for sledding if that's your thing. no worries there; if cold enough we have had visitors from south america who enjoyed sledding in little over an inch.
  5. so...there was concern about sleet at the end of the storm.....looking like an all night sleet fest to me around here. seen it a thousand times. hope it changes. sleet just isn't all that interesting to me. on any level.
  6. same, and not that heavy either. it's a lighter sleet, not the heavy pellets.
  7. that's actually edison....but yeah not a good look right now. some say it will change over. i've not seen that often over the years....
  8. some are getting the heavier bands as sleet though, if i'm reading correctly.
  9. yeah. don't like what i'm seeing so far. light sleet here in woodbridge.
  10. perhaps i came off harsh, in retrospect....who knows exactly where the mix sets up and for how long. locals have us 6-10, but we have struggled in recent years to top 5-6, except for one anomaly in feb 24. what people here are hearing is confusing....because we get mostly nyc radio....everything from biggest storm in 4 years to sleet and drizzle.....and all of those things can be true.
  11. and there should be. we've had two fatalities at my parkway exit in a week. i see accidents every freakin day on route one and 287. this is without bad weather. frankly, driving in nj IS a state of emergency....for all of us. texting has killed us.
  12. this isn't really a big snowstorm for anyone though, really....maybe someone gets 10 somewhere, but this is a very normal snow for this area all things considered; trenton area often does ok; i'd say i wouldn't be surprised at all if mercer areas get 4-5 with some sleet. of course the usual areas north and east will jackpot, but that is not the same as seeing nothing. just my opinions not based on anything but decades of observation; in fact, many times people would be commuting from trenton to nyc and people there would not believe them when they said they were delayed by snow...people used to laugh at them. this was back in the day of course......
  13. what a roller coaster here... i thought you were on board for something bigger when i read your earlier takes....
  14. ok, i know had seen this, but didn't know where it came from...been here since around 2010...
  15. i have the sense the expiration dates are much sooner than they used to be; but i have no proof of this.
  16. . i can't help but admire your set up there, however. the tree almost touches the ceiling; have you seen the documentary on the guy whose neighbors in idaho took him to court because he goes overboard with the decorations? pretty funny. but then, 5000 visitors to your neighborhood on christmas would piss anyone off.....i only have steaming now, no cable, so no weather channels. don't miss em.
  17. most americans throw tons of food away each year. stocking up just means more for the sanitation crews to pick up when it goes bad. can't tell you how many bags of mozzarella, tubs of sour cream and cream cheese, freakin tofu my wife buys, that we throw out from costco every month. you can only eat so many bagels. i now order cold cuts by the slice, not the pound. they aren't even good after a day in the fridge. that said, who wants to shop in the snow? i was at costco for the last storm and it was nuts; i did need a new shovel, and they were nearly out....i'm ready to go for this one.
  18. what are you talking about ? you know something actual professionals don't ?
  19. yeah, but it was really impressive sleet...so. much so that henry marguisity quoted me on it....but it was a heartbreaking winter all around that year.
  20. don't. know what's gonna happen but i do know sleet is a persistent little mother, and often rears its head well before we want. that said, there is disagreement even among the pros how much of this will happen and when. so let's just let this one ride and hope we can get some good season's greetings photos for next year's card....got a daughter commuting to somerset in her 2009 impala, her first time working with snow on the way; hope she can leave work early before 287 is a mess; retired now, and worry about loved ones.....be safe all, and let's hope for some wintry wonderland photo ops. we get enough winters without them....
  21. lee's pretty solid. i recommend him to the uneducated masses....news 12 guy is very good also.
