  1. It’s been a while since we’ve tracked a snowstorm like this, but it seems to be following so many of the “rules” I remember. Never want to be in the bullseye 3+days out. Always a west trend. Euro catches on first and GFS caves to it a couple days out. Obviously still a lot to iron out as far as totals, but folks in eastern NC definitely have every reason to be concerned given the trends.
  2. And now we wait for the king to do its thing. Most important 12z euro run many of us have seen in a long time.
  3. Amazing run even for us Upstate SC folk. I’ll go ahead and cash out my chips now
  4. Easy my friend. You’re gonna have a rough couple of days if you let one run of the NAM at this range send you cliff diving
  5. Isn’t the old rule that you don’t want to be in the bullseye at this time range? That being said, wouldn’t be shocked if that almost 11” spot over Columbia, SC moves closer to the upstate in a few more runs.
  6. You know how it goes…we lean on it only if it shows us the snow amounts we want to see lol
  7. The line finally got to me in Clinton, SC. All sleet currently
  8. Yes, better to be prepared. That being said however, some people being upset about this could be very warranted. I could see that being the case with people on tight budgets who may have spent a lot of their money on preparation for a storm that doesn’t happen. I’d be frustrated in that situation.
  9. Chris and his team at WYFF need to get on the same page. WYFF cutting the ice totals this morning, while Chris is saying nothing has changed and still showing the same totals as yesterday.
  10. As do I. Unfortunately I think NWS is closer. WYFF saying it’s gonna change to rain towards the end of the event but I don’t see that happening in the upstate
  11. Got fortunate here where I'm at in Travelers Rest. Worst of it went just south and just north of me.
  12. Confirmed large tornado according to Chris Justus with this cell that went through Seneca
  13. That's a good question. Climatology is a real b*tch and it's hard to get just snow here. Even in the 93 superstorm I remember sleet mixing in here.
  14. You've thrown in the towel so many times with this storm I'm surprised you have any left. You've made it clear how pessimistic you are about it.
  15. Not gonna happen, not that much anyway. Even half of that though in this area would be terrible.
  16. In early December. Be thankful for anything you get here this time of year...or any time of year for that matter lol. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come in what's suppose to be a very active winter.
  17. Not sure why all the cliff jumping for some in Upstate SC. WYFF still seems highly confident and has even upped the snow totals in some places. Of course, I'm also sitting good being up in TR too. First winter on the good side of I-85! Glad I made that move lol
  18. WYFF is buying into the southern trend. They've upped their snowfall totals for the upstate.
  19. Game over for snow in Upstate SC? Looking more and more like it. Once it trends this way it usually doesn't trend back this close to the event.
  20. Hoping that trend continues so more of upstate SC can cash in. Definitely different seeing a continued southern trend. Use to it trending North, but still plenty of time for that to happen unfortunately.
  21. I'll take that bet. Living in upstate SC for 30 years can make one quite the pessimist. I've even come up with my own formula to determine snow amounts. Take whatever is being modeled/forecasted and cut it in half. Take that total and cut it in half again. Whatever is remaining from that total, assume at least 1" of it will be either sleet, freezing rain, or cold rain. Be happy if what's left of the total is snow.
  22. A "storm" that will live in infamy around these parts and one I will remember forever. Biggest forcast fail I can remember for this area. Even Chris Justus and John C were on air on WYFF for that day guaranteeing 8-12" of snow. Then we end up with sleet and freezing rain.
