  1. Does this forum ever have that many posts for a single storm ?
  2. It's true though. Even with 2-4" events there's just not a lot of excitement. You should try living in the south and going years without seeing snow. The sight of a snow flurry is enough to close schools down there. Up here it's like business as usual.
  3. One thing I love about the south is that EVERY snow event is a big deal. It's snowing lightly here right now and could see some light accumulations and nobody is even talking about it. That's what I don't like about the midwest. In the south, snow is more fun. You go so long without seeing snow, that you appreciate even the slightest bit of snow. I think people up here take the smaller events for granted and don't appreciate it enough.
  4. You are not even exaggerating. There was literally no spring or fall ( which happen to be my 2 favorite seasons).
  5. Last winter was just awful here. Tons of cold days but I think the biggest snow we had was 4". Ended up with about 2 feet total but mostly just 1-2" snows.
  6. Yeah what's the point of it being cold all the time if it's never going to snow ? Might as well be 70 and sunny.
  7. Its crazy how much more active the New England forum is compared to this one. Maybe more people live in New England than the Midwest? Or maybe Midwesterners are just boring ?
  8. It would be something if the south once again got a big early December snow. Last year in early December, parts of GA got a foot ! Does this part of the country ever get a decent snow ? I am still waiting. Might have to move south to see a good snow again. Good grief the weather here is so boring. Cloudy and cold day after day but not much to show for it !
  9. Its ok as long as you dont have to work outside in it !
  10. It's amazing how nobody is even mentioning the storm next weekend. So I am going to assume that the entire midwest will stay dry and it will all go to the south.
  11. So i'm hearing talk of a possible winter storm next weekend. Would any of the Ohio Valley be impacted ?
  12. Yeah i have lived in GA my whole life until 10 months ago. And i wont be in this area too much longer. The endless cloudy days is incredibly depressing. And im not even close to the Great Lakes. I am a good 200 miles SE of Lake Michigan so im not sure where these clouds are coming from.
  13. Yeah I am so over this constant overcast. And not a snowflake to show for it here. I feel like I am in Seattle. Where is the sunshine ? Today was supposed to be Partly Sunny and ended up being cloudy. Tomorrow was forecast to be Mostly Cloudy and now they changed it to Cloudy. They are forecasting "Partly Sunny" on Mon and Tues but I have a feeling as it gets closer it will change to Mostly Cloudy or Cloudy.
  14. Just a couple days ago they were calling for 1-2" here and I dont think it snowed at all !!! Now they are saying some snow or ice or Thurs. I'll believe it when I see it !!!
  15. My mom had kidney stones a couple weeks ago and said the pain was worse than labor ! Needless to say I am now terrified of getting a kidney stone. Anyway, glad you are feeling better.
  16. Well, hopefully we will get lucky and see a foot snowstorm this winter. The most snow I've experienced in a single snowstorm was 10" in the 1993 Blizzard. I did get to experience my coldest temp ever last year when I was here as it got down to -12 ! I just hope this winter isn't dry like El Nino winters tend to be in the midwest.
  17. The color here along I-70 is looking much better. Probably will be peaking this week.
  18. It really surprises me that big snowstorms are not more common along the I-70 corridor. You have the Gulf to the south that brings in copious amounts of moisture and usually temps are pretty cold here in winter. You would think moisture and cold air would combine more often.
  19. I said this is my first year in the midwest. I've been here since January. I found last winter pretty boring for the most part. The biggest snow we had here was 4". Back in GA where i'm from, they had a snowstorm close to a foot last winter.
  20. This is my first year in the midwest. I was wondering.... Do places like Cincinnati and Indianapolis ever get big snowstorms like cities further east do, such as Baltimore and DC ?
  21. It just amazes me that it can be this cold with a sun angle equivalent to the first week of September.
  22. At what point do the Wilmington or Indy NWS offices start issuing Freeze Watches/Warnings? I know in Atlanta they start issuing them starting on March 1st.
