  1. You’re in my hometown. I graduated from Little Falls High and my older brother still lives there. We lived on the south side, supposedly the bad side of town. If you look towards the south at the base of the valley wall there’s a church. We lived three houses up from that church. If you don’t mind me asking what kind of work are you doing there?
  2. I love what Joe Judge has done with this team. They play hard, especially on defense. The offense the last few weeks has done just enough to win. And to win today with Colt McCoy at QB, it’s his first win as a starter since 2014. I don’t expect them to win the Super Bowl this year, hopefully that will be the Bills. But if they can hold on to win the NFC East and make the playoffs, that will be a big step forward!
  3. My wife and I felt something that I thought could be a snowplow going down the road. I would have been bummed if it was clear here and I missed it being in the house.
  4. Slightly ot but did anyone on here feel what seemed to be a rather loud explosion that shook many houses just after noon? I guess it’s being attributed to a good sized meteor that broke up over the central ny through the Buffalo area, southern Ontario to about Detroit. There have been reports of a fireball of course here we’re socked in with low clouds so we couldn’t see anything. https://fireball.amsmeteors.org/members/imo_view/event/2020/7267
  5. 0.7 inch here overnight and snow is picking up in intensity.
  6. Poughkeepsie is at 18C right now. Another August night in December.
  7. I didn’t know he had a girlfriend unless he’s dating his mother, lol! I know Chelsea Handler has the hots for him.
  8. Snow days could be a thing of the past around here. Now that online teaching has been implemented on a day that schools would be closed they may just make an announcement that school will be remote today. I don’t know if there are drawbacks to that plan but the days of kids wearing their pajamas inside out may be over.
  9. Monday night could have been one of those surprises here but the temperature was just a couple degrees too warm. 0.75 inch of liquid could have easily produced a foot of snow. The models were showing some activity off the lake but I don’t think it was nearly that much.
  10. I closed on my house on November 9, 1995 in the middle of a lake effect storm. From then through December it seemed like I was snow-blowing 2-3 times a week. I thought wow, I’m in the jackpot zone. It’s been downhill ever since. BTW, that was the snowiest November on record in Syracuse.
  11. A rather substantial lake effect band set up over me last night. Unfortunately temperatures were a degree or two too warm through most of it. Towards the end the temperature fell to 32 and we were able to get a small slushy accumulation. I measured 0.75 inch of liquid this morning. If it was all snow at lake effect ratios there might be a foot of snow on the ground this morning. As it is I measured 0.4 inch of slush.
  12. We’ve got a mixture of rain and snow here in Brewerton. Surfaces are getting covered with a slushy accumulation. The temperature has fallen all evening and currently stands at 33.
  13. And I wonder how many left with Covid-19 and brought it home to their families?
  14. It looks like Trump is,finally recognizing the inevitable. https://nypost.com/2020/11/23/gsa-notifies-biden-that-trump-admin-is-ready-to-start-transition-process/
  15. I need to correct you because you obviously don’t know how the NYS Pension System is funded. I am a retired state employee having been an engineer for the NYSDOT for 37 years. Our pensions do not come out of the general state budget. The pension fund is a separate fund mandated in the state constitution. It is managed by the state comptroller and as of the latest report had a value of $226 billion. It is the third largest public pension fund in the US and is consistently in the top 3 or 4 well funded plans. Our pensions were won through collective bargaining. As a whole state employees are not paid as well as their private sector counterparts. Our pensions even the playing field after we retire. And if you are vested in the system you can collect a pension when you retire but to maximize benefits you need 30 years, not 20 as you stated and be at least 55. So don’t blame the pension system for state budget deficits. https://www.osc.state.ny.us/press/releases/2020/11/nys-common-retirement-fund-reports-second-quarter-results
  16. I am biting my tongue right now over your callousness. 250K is a drop in the bucket? What’s the matter with you man? Just think of the families of all these people. And your statement that lives being lost are out of the workforce (in other words worthless) and riddled with comorbidities (a burden on society) is straight out of 1930s Germany. I will be 66 next Tuesday and I’ve had bypass surgery, Type 2 diabetes and I’m scared shitless of this virus. I pray that when you’re older you will not be in a situation like this.
  17. 250,000 dead people aren’t going to come back to life either. How many more people do we need to lose before the vaccine is administered widely enough to make a difference. I think if you were 30 years older your attitude would be different.
  18. 2.4 inches here as of 9:00. The temperature has been in the lower 20s but now sits at 25. It’s been snowing all morning but it seems to have let up in the last few minutes.
  19. Perceived fraud. Meanwhile, 1100 people a day are losing their lives to Covid-19 and he is completely checked out. Not even a tweet.
  20. And where has he been since the election? It looks like he’s completely checked out at a time where the country needs leadership.
