  1. You’re in my hometown. I graduated from Little Falls High and my older brother still lives there. We lived on the south side, supposedly the bad side of town. If you look towards the south at the base of the valley wall there’s a church. We lived three houses up from that church. If you don’t mind me asking what kind of work are you doing there?
  2. I love what Joe Judge has done with this team. They play hard, especially on defense. The offense the last few weeks has done just enough to win. And to win today with Colt McCoy at QB, it’s his first win as a starter since 2014. I don’t expect them to win the Super Bowl this year, hopefully that will be the Bills. But if they can hold on to win the NFC East and make the playoffs, that will be a big step forward!
  3. My wife and I felt something that I thought could be a snowplow going down the road. I would have been bummed if it was clear here and I missed it being in the house.
  4. Slightly ot but did anyone on here feel what seemed to be a rather loud explosion that shook many houses just after noon? I guess it’s being attributed to a good sized meteor that broke up over the central ny through the Buffalo area, southern Ontario to about Detroit. There have been reports of a fireball of course here we’re socked in with low clouds so we couldn’t see anything. https://fireball.amsmeteors.org/members/imo_view/event/2020/7267
  5. 0.7 inch here overnight and snow is picking up in intensity.
  6. Poughkeepsie is at 18C right now. Another August night in December.
  7. I didn’t know he had a girlfriend unless he’s dating his mother, lol! I know Chelsea Handler has the hots for him.
  8. Snow days could be a thing of the past around here. Now that online teaching has been implemented on a day that schools would be closed they may just make an announcement that school will be remote today. I don’t know if there are drawbacks to that plan but the days of kids wearing their pajamas inside out may be over.
  9. And I wonder how many left with Covid-19 and brought it home to their families?
  10. It looks like Trump is,finally recognizing the inevitable. https://nypost.com/2020/11/23/gsa-notifies-biden-that-trump-admin-is-ready-to-start-transition-process/
  11. I need to correct you because you obviously don’t know how the NYS Pension System is funded. I am a retired state employee having been an engineer for the NYSDOT for 37 years. Our pensions do not come out of the general state budget. The pension fund is a separate fund mandated in the state constitution. It is managed by the state comptroller and as of the latest report had a value of $226 billion. It is the third largest public pension fund in the US and is consistently in the top 3 or 4 well funded plans. Our pensions were won through collective bargaining. As a whole state employees are not paid as well as their private sector counterparts. Our pensions even the playing field after we retire. And if you are vested in the system you can collect a pension when you retire but to maximize benefits you need 30 years, not 20 as you stated and be at least 55. So don’t blame the pension system for state budget deficits. https://www.osc.state.ny.us/press/releases/2020/11/nys-common-retirement-fund-reports-second-quarter-results
  12. I am biting my tongue right now over your callousness. 250K is a drop in the bucket? What’s the matter with you man? Just think of the families of all these people. And your statement that lives being lost are out of the workforce (in other words worthless) and riddled with comorbidities (a burden on society) is straight out of 1930s Germany. I will be 66 next Tuesday and I’ve had bypass surgery, Type 2 diabetes and I’m scared shitless of this virus. I pray that when you’re older you will not be in a situation like this.
  13. 250,000 dead people aren’t going to come back to life either. How many more people do we need to lose before the vaccine is administered widely enough to make a difference. I think if you were 30 years older your attitude would be different.
  14. Perceived fraud. Meanwhile, 1100 people a day are losing their lives to Covid-19 and he is completely checked out. Not even a tweet.
  15. And where has he been since the election? It looks like he’s completely checked out at a time where the country needs leadership.
  16. Amen! I’ve been tempted to post the same thing. Our parents and grandparents suffered immensely more during both WW2 and the Great Depression. They would laugh at anyone who would say wearing a mask to save lives is an overwhelming sacrifice.
  17. I heard on TV today that the recount is almost done in Fulton County (Atlanta). The rest of the recounts need to be completed tomorrow. I think the Secretary of State in GA ordered the recount to squash any doubts about the outcome in the state.
  18. December will be here in basically two weeks. Are they magically going to come up with the logistical plans to inoculate 20 million people in that time frame? They’ve had 8 months to come up with a federal testing program and we’re still waiting. Let me make a wild guess, Florida will be the first state to receive the vaccine.
  19. Cuomo has been concerned that Trump was going to rush a vaccine for political purposes. That’s why he said he was going to have an independent panel of experts review the data from the trials before he approved the use of the vaccine in New York. He has also questioned the logistics of the federal distribution plan. The Pfizer vaccine must be stored at a temperature less than -100 F. Also, distributing the vaccine in 2 doses to even 20 million New Yorkers is going to require extensive planning. I’ve watched most of Cuomo’s briefings and he has never said he didn’t want the vaccine in New York.
  20. I’ll bet one person who is extremely happy right now is Tony Fauci. Hopefully we can get back to a science based COVID policy now.
