My niece is a real estate agent in this area and she’s been selling houses like crazy over the last year. Most of the houses in my development used to be in the $200-250K range but in the last year 2 houses sold for around $300k so I’m not sure of my house’s value. Tell me about property taxes around here. I just paid my county/town taxes for $3200 and I’ll have a similar school tax bill in September.
Had a little burst of snow here over the last hour. Nothing to write home about in a normal winter but my deck is covered with about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of snow.
What is that little kink in the contours just above where it says 3.2 at Syracuse, must be Matt’s house? The TugHillMatt snow shield, lol! Even the models have it built into the algorithm.
Why are you looking ahead to some potentially bad news? Enjoy whatever we get during this cold period and whatever happens after that we’ll deal with then.
I’ve managed to keep a snow cover here in Brewerton courtesy of the 13 inches of LES almost 2 weeks ago. Probably down to a couple of inches but it’s like a glacier. Hopefully we’ll be adding to it in the next week.
This graphic was used on Channel 9’s weather segment tonight. It shows the least snowiest winters through New Years Eve in Syracuse and the total snowfall for the entire winter. As you can see some winters with less snow than this year ended up with well over 100 inches. 65-66 had the Blizzard of ‘66 in late January and 06-07 had the “Winter in a Week” lake effect blitz in February. So don’t give up on winter yet. There’s still a long way to go.
Growing up in Little Falls I don’t remember lacking for snow. I am probably forgetting some lean years but what I do remember is being able to sled (flexible flyers back then) down the middle of the street. When the snow banks got too big the city would come and cut them back or remove them. That happened at least once a year. Later in the season when the snow started to melt we used to build dams in the street out of snow to catch the runoff then bust them after they filled up. Most of the snow was from synoptic systems but we would get into the tail end of some lake streamers.
