This is not the final map because it was still snowing in a significant part of the area at cutoff time, but it gives a general layout of where the better amounts were.

GFS, after it finally caved back south, ended up pretty close. A lot of other models underestimated WAA (shocker) and this were way too high on accums on the south end

The infamous extreme northwest edge cutoff is almost here.  Gonna be sad to see this system go!  Trying to cherish every last flake of this beast lol.

I should be asleep, but am doing the same. Will see a pop up of nice returns on radar, so the I get out of bed to go check conditions.

As the system starts to pull away, will be interesting to see if any of the late bands get some lake enhancement

This final band has a nice snow globe effect to it.  Flakes are a lot drier than the dense/wet/granulated type flakes we saw for much of the event.  Visibility and snowfall rates not nearly as intense as the stuff from earlier, but it still has a nice look to it.  Definitely over a foot now, will take final measurements in the next half hour or so when it ends.

    Last gasp weenie band.

We've come a long way from this morning's driving rain eh? :D

Yep. Always skeptical about these rain to snow changeovers, as they never seem to work exactly as modeled. (Usually WTOD screws us). HRRR nailed it in my backyard, only thing keeping us from the jackpot was the Fgen band setting up shop about 20 miles too far north.

Still a couple hours of light to moderate snow to tack on another inch or two. I keep having to remind myself it is still November.

Thought I would have a foot by now when I went to measure a bit ago. Up to 11.8". Rates have really slowed in the last hour or so.  Picked up 0.8" in last hour and a half. Sure wish those 2"/hr rates could have lasted a little while longer lol.

Your golden for a foot. When was the last 12+ storm you’ve had?

Are there a lot of other accidents you’re hearing about in the area? I know you said you work for a towing company (I think) so I figured you’d know, roads just seem awful and I’ve seen a number of people stuck in the last few hours.

I work for the PD. I haven't been paying real close attention to what they are on, got tired of listening to DID calls.

slushy mess on the roads and sidewalks, and the grass is covered without an inch or so I think.  Hearing reports of IDOT pulling plows off the roads until conditions improve.  Also hearing Route 38 is closed west of DeKalb (confirmation?).  Some schools in my area closing also.

38 was closed for an accident, unsure if they reopened.
