.07" in the back yard station. I'll take another look when I get up in the morning--we've got a lot of brand new plants in the ground that could really use a good soaking.
-
So far we're getting pretty fringed up here IMBY. Plenty of flashy-flash boom-boom, but just a few sprinkles to show for it. .03" in the rain meter so far.
-
Looks like we also hit 90+ today (right around 3pm). Thank goodness for that breeze though! It made working outside somewhat tolerable.
Looks like there are currently some boomers over the horizon with another line of storms a couple of hours behind. Should be an interesting evening

It looks like something is not quite right with the temp obs out of the Reading area....there was not even 1 reading at any locations outside of the heat island coastal plain at even 86 degrees with any modest elevation. Is your thermometer sited correctly? Is your thermometer located in direct sunlight without a solid fan aspirated radiation shield?? that could explain your high readings??
It's a PWS mounted on a pole way above my shed. It seems to track pretty well with other local readings:
This is an Amazon link to what I have installed:

Two days in a row above 90, and looking to hit again tomorrow. Two heat waves already this year! Booooo

This summer sucks been like pulling teeth to get a hot day, of course today's 40% shower is a cloudy rainathon now and back in the 70's.
The western mega ridge from hell is screwing summer lovers in the east
It hasn't even started yet! Lol jk of course we started meteorological summer several weeks ago. To each their own though, and I hope you get to enjoy some more hot days, but as someone who primarily works outside in full dress hazmat gear I'll take this week's (and today's) cooldown gladly thankyouverymuch.

Just chiming in to say that this week has been very pleasant to work outside in, especially compared to last week's roaster. I wish we could have this all summer.

Man, none of the radars are picking up the light showers moving over Berks. Makes me wish we could have back yard radar systems akin to our PWS. Like, how do you even plan for anything when the forecast is wrong less than a day out and you can't even see what's coming on the radar? What year is this, anyway?

I think we were originally forecasted .25", then that went down to .1" this morning. So far we're almost to .5". Wife is happy she doesn't have to water the plants tonight.

Found one in my back yard! Wife was gardening when she heard a "THWAP" against the side of the house. She sent me this while I was at work earlier. Don't know where he came from but it has to be local, right? He did fly away after she took this. Also there are definitely a bunch more if you drive I-176 about a mile south of the 422.

What weird storms these are. Nearly stationary and just DUMPING water. Yesterday at work there was a huge supercell to my north, today there was one to my south. Didn't have to drive through any on the way home today (thankfully). My mom wanted to know what the weather is gonna do tonight (in case she had to put the horses in due to thunderstorms) and I just basically sent her a shrug emoji. Told her to play it safe and keep them in lest one of these monsters decides to park over her house!
-
Yeesh. Drove home from Pennsville, NJ to Reading. It poured (with bonus thunder and lightning) the entire length of the turnpike, then clear on 176, then rain again on 422. Luckily no major incidents, just exhausting after a full day of working outside in this miserable heat. Rinse and repeat for tomorrow and Thursday...

Damn. Already 91 here and it's before noon. Dewpoint is a bopping between a juicy 75 and 76. I'm afraid to walk outside!
Glad I did what I had to do early this morning.
My wife has the week off and she's been planning on putting in some more plants around the house. It was cloudy earlier so away she went. I heard her digging outside my office for a little while, and then I saw the sun come out--two seconds later she noped out and came inside.
But she's determined, now that she's started, so we set up the 10' pup-up canopy for her to dig under. More power to her! (I'd help her, but I'm on light & limited duty today. Thank goodness.

Definitely moist outside. Keeping an eye on the radar for any pop-ups--the cloud tops you can see in our neck of the woods have that "boiling up" potential look to them.

I think I have now hit my high for the day at 93, just after 2:30 pm. Currently 90 and partly cloudy with some puffy cumulus, and dp bopping between 69 and 70.
Hit 95.7°F here, down to 86.5°F now with 50% RH. I do not like this new normal.
Trying to psyche myself up for working outside in 90° weather in full Tyvek this week and am just. not. feeling. it. (I work in environmental remediation. Love the work but hate this kind of weather.) Hopefully we get some boomers this week to break up the monotony of endless bright, hot sun.

Totally agree.
A path of mid/upper 90s and humid with no end in sight really sucks..."SAD" sinks in. However I'm backassed, most people get it during Fall/Winter.
SAME. I love the occasional warm, summer day, and spring storms are fun to experience but to me it's all a prelude to cooler temps. I wish I could live much farther north than I do now, but I kindof feel obligated to stay somewhat close to my parents as they are getting on in years. Maybe I'll be able to retire in cooler climes, but until then, I'll always just be enjoying or waiting for fall.

IT'S HOT. I have to mow my front but it's not going to cool down hardly at all before the sun sets. Boo...

Kind of feels like we're splitting hairs here. I mean, here's the local airport (KRDG) less than a mile from my house and at a similar elevation, and I kind of have to assume they have a better setup than I do:
This is actually lower than what was recorded from the NOAA (highlighting is mine), though it says these results are still pending verification (which seems a couple of days behind):
But you have raised a valid complaint in which my personal station certainly does not meet the criteria you have laid out. It's the first iteration of my PWS and therefore reduced cost was the prime motivator in getting one up and running. In the short term, I think I might want to rig up another remote sensor (Arduino, perhaps) to record and log shade temps. In the long term, I hope to be able to afford a much fancier unit.
That said, one of the things I was most looking forward to when buying my house was to be able to log IMBY weather data over the long term, so your feedback (and post history, and personal website which is btw awesome!) is most welcome, thank you.
