    GEFS isn't upgraded. I don't know what the Hi-Res GFS is, but I am going to assume that is just a different name of the current GFS.

    Yes they did by a couple of months I believe.

    I don't know what the internal discussions were within the weather service, but I could imagine it was largely negative with regard to the upgrade.

    GFS "upgrade" has really destroyed a half way decent model. It is almost to the point of being useless.

    Surprisingly there hasn't been a lot of melting here with temps in the mid 30s. This glacier has some high moisture content.

    If the energy on the backside is pressing in too fast it can end up sheared out. Along with if there is too strong of a ridge being formed out west behind the system.

    It is also the RAP which is pretty low grade these days compared to other models.

    Once that happens, that is when they will see snow and accumulations It isn't all rain for the 50 feet along and inland from the lake.

    Agreed, maybe a couple spots get higher with the pivot point. But you can't bank on that for everyone.
