  1. It is very tough for a lot of us here especially because a good portion of us come from a scientific background, I am glad that most here are the way they are though. Unfortunately this place and other science based entities are not like the rest of the country, and sadly far too much of this country believes in nonsense and falsehoods. It is sad to see the devolution of people right before our eyes.
  2. I don't let the gross negligence of the last 4 years and more specifically this last year dictate this country's value. We should however use this to show what not to do ever again.
  3. The testing ceiling is a big factor for sure.
  4. Directly from your story... But amid the struggles of New York and other states, Cuomo's salary is still set to increase from $225,000 in 2020 to $250,000 in 2021. That is the result of a pre-panedmic resolution passed by the legislature, which noted the New York governor and the lieutenant governor had each made the same salary since 1999.
  5. The book is tacky as hell, the pay increase is more than like done by state congress, I highly doubt the governor gives himself a raise.
  6. It was an emergency order and no one knew how much it would spread. Hindsight is always 20/20, but at the time he saw what was happening in NYC and went statewide because it could have spread that much. It is same for many other states.
  7. In April the hospitals were overrun in NY...
  8. Yes and the reluctance of medical directors at these homes in believing this was a real thing or following any sort of guidelines. The malpractice that went on in March and April was astounding.
  9. Wasn't that a CDC idea though and the governors were just following through with the guidance given? I will say it was absolutely terrible guidance tho.
  10. He is making it out to be something nefarious with the field hospitals, it was more about absolute uncertainty. Thank god we at least have an idea of what to do now compared to back in April.
  11. What he fails to understand is that if they didn't have those hospitals set up and needed them, they would have been ****ed. I would rather be overprepared than underprepared. I mean its just common sense.
  12. Also they didn't get set up fast enough because thing exploded so quickly. Honestly that response by dta is just beyond stupid, we need to be better in this thread and posts like that just aren't it.
  13. Cali is more people not giving a shit, the rest is more people being inside, less restrictions due to lawsuits, and complacency as you can see in this thread.
  14. It was more than that, it was the people in the south not giving a shit either, which I also stated. You seem pretty cavalier here though for someone who has only 40 or so posts.
  15. So in other words a useless study that will get pimped by stupid people as a reason not to wear masks.
  16. There have been several packages sent through the house some with bipartisan support. It is the turtle slowing everything down in the Senate.
  17. Or we shut it all down and there is very few essential jobs then for a month. Instead of us trying to guess what is or is not essential. Oh and all 3 you listed are not essential.
  18. Like Alek said, we live among sociopaths.
  19. No I don't, I would have if I was symptomatic and it came back as negative.
  20. Test came back negative for me, took 3 days to get results.
  21. Positivity rates are up though.
  22. Yeah I was just coming to post the same especially with respect to bars. I'd love to see this data that says otherwise. Let's be real bars breed carelessness, it shouldn't shock anyone that they are superspreaders especially now that everything is exclusively indoors. Restaurants are also an issue when they pack the places. Dined out 2 times since things reopened in May both places were rural areas and during the summer, that said carry out and delivery has been the way to go for me.
  23. Get together virtually, it is dangerous to risk it as a family.
