  1. Well we got a random pop up 2 min downpour last night around 7. Gave me .05. The older Ms J and myself got all excited, shows you how storm deprived we are. Have noticed in just the past 15 min while there are still clouds it is getting brighter out.
  2. Well knock me over it is actually raining here. Some thunder and lightning as well.
  3. I drive across to VA several times a week. I usually cross at the Brunswick and Point of Ricks bridges so I get a good view of the river below. It is low. Lower than I have remembered ever seeing it. You can actually see the green plants/Algae on top of the surface rocks. The younger Miss J commented to me that you could not go tubing or you would scrape your butt up. I had to agree with her. When we crossed over the Shenandoah last weekend on Rt 7 it was the same out there. The show we went to the ground was hard as concrete. All riders were told nothing more than a walk when outside of the rings. And absolutely no jumping outside of the rings. The grass in my neighborhood which had been holding on to some form of green has given up and now yards that are not watered and common spaces are brown and crunchy. We need some nice steady rain over this way. Not soakers as it will all just run off. As I sit on my deck I look at a sky that looks like it could rain. But I know it won’t.
  4. 75 and cloudy with a brisk wind. Sitting on the deck waiting on dinner to cook. Will be eating outside.
  5. I ended with a whopping 0.11” over the last two days. Yes it has been a dry year for sure here in Frederick.
  6. Has gotten very windy over here. Winds have shifted to now coming out of NW. Down to 88. Clouds rolling in. Missed any rain but the cooler temps have come in.
  7. As I was watching FlightRadar 24, sorry am an aviation geek as well as a weather one. Noticed that all the big international flights were swinging way out west instead of flying just east of my house. This prompt to check radar. Mind you I have been avoiding checking radar as I do not want to be disappointed again. Upon logging in I see that all you folks to my East are in the running for some storms. Congratulations once again to you all. As you all are getting a downpour and sound and light show think of my parched flower beds over here.
  8. 81/72/85 at 9:30. From my station back home. I am currently over in Loudoun Co VA. The younger Miss Aj has just finished one ride in on her horse. And we need to head down to school her pony in Aldi for kids. Trying to beat the bad heat.
  9. 93/ 76.4 dew feels like 107
  10. Mr J has gone into his office this whole week. He works from home still but they are working on getting a product out. Anyways it was taking him a long time to get home. He took 28 and got caught in stopped traffic in the storms down there. Finally took a detour only to encounter a downed tree. Was able to get around it and get home. Was probably still better than 270 in the rain.
  11. Yep I got split once again. Got the sponge wring out of a whole .02”. I am now calling it the Ballenger Creek Split as you can literally see it happening just about 3 miles out.
  12. Has anyone seen any changing in color of tree leaves? Was driving along MD 17 in Brunswick. There is a set of trees that in the fall are the first to change color. There are two trees that are changing to their orange fall color. The trees are not dead they are just changing color early. Also while heading out 340 towards WV I saw many more trees changing color. Like the vibrant reds you get out that way. Is this because of the lack of rainfall and the tree just giving up on staying green? I have never seen trees this early be anything but green.
  13. I need this weather pattern to change. Not only are we missing out on any storms, but it is causing the oldest Ms. J almost daily headaches/ migraines. I hate that I cannot do anything to help. OTC meds work sometimes but not always. And what she has to take is really upsetting her stomach.
  14. We have had some memorable snow falls up here. Now if we could just get some rain. @MillvilleWx drag any moisture you can with you next week. Do not let the green fool you when you roll into town. The tree line behind my house is looking quite pathetic and bedraggled. As it is supposed to go scorched earth tomorrow, we will get no help.
  15. Well we finally got a decent rain. 0.61” from that line. Oldest kid who shares my love of storms was having trouble sleeping. Told me it was coming and I checked radar and was excited for the storm but must of fell back to sleep and missed it. She got to see it as she laid down on the couch to fall asleep.
  16. Not just downtown. Things are getting crunchy and brown down SW of downtown.
  17. 91/55 I live in a split zone. Have many a time watched lines or cells come my way to watch them split and reform just to my East.
  18. Are getting some breaks in the could cover up here. Getting a decent amount of sun.
  19. Full cloud cover up here. Currently sitting at 88/66. I was out in this stuff at a horse show yesterday and the sun came full out. I really do dislike humid sticky sweat dripping horse shows with no tree cover.
  20. Yeah Point of Rocks and Adamstown got slammed. I am just up Ballenger Creek pike near the traffic circle and kept checking radar to see if it was moving up here. Lightning all to the SE for quite awhile. Took a bit of time to move but where I live finally it moved up. Ended up with just over .50”.
  21. Finally it moved up from Adamstown. Pouring here with lightning.
  22. I am sitting just to the East of that mass of rain up here. Painful to watch it on radar and be so close.
  23. Yes we will definitely need to meet up. If you have never been downtown Frederick is so nice and a lot of fun. Great shops and restaurants. It is actually a destination city for our neighbors to the south. Parks are great and we have managed to keep a lot of our farmland. The Frederick Festival for the Arts was just last weekend and that is an annual event down on the Carol Creek Linear Park. And there is always First Saturdays and in December Frosty Fridays. And Thursday wind downs at the Linear park also with live bands. Quite a few distilleries and craft beer establishments also.
