  1. It really is interesting. As I sit over in VA currently at 8 at night because that is the only time during the day my kid can ride safely I sit here once again and look to the South and see the cloud tops that are just that too far away as the sweat runs down my back And the dust from the riding ring hangs in the air
  2. The stuff that builds to the West and you just know it will hit the mountains and go poof. It is the reason I have replaced most of my perennials with drought tolerant plants. My sedums have done amazing the last two years.
  3. So wanted to check into the rain and lack of rain here. May 2025 monthly total was 10.04" June 2025 monthly total was 5.36" July 2025 to date total is 1.03” July last year the monthly total was 1.25” and then August I had 7.67”. I have currently started noticing the tree line behind my house and some leaves are turning yellow. So even with all that rain we got in May the lack of a decent deluge between June 28th and today is showing. I am hoping that the rest of July we at least get something and that August ramps back up again. Mind you this is in my area in SW Frederick Co. I know just recently the NE side of the county had that day where a cell sat and just dumped rain. But the measurable rain in my area is really lacking.
  4. Flood Watch just ended for me. Dark clouds all around 78 with humidity of 88 and a dew point of 74.
  5. Yeah was looking at that. But it seems to be dissolving. These last few days have been all I-95 specials. I understand these storms are going to be wide spread. But having to deal with this humidity a nice downpour would be appreciated. We are obviously missing some part of the ingredients in this area.
  6. Sounds like I got the same as amount of rain as you. Had some thunder and thought without looking at radar we might get a decent soak. 0.02” and just a lot of clouds.
  7. While I can do without rains that cause flash flooding, I am hoping for some rain. Older Ms. J has been dealing with sinus headaches for the past 3-4 days. One even turned into a migraine. Being stuck in this pattern is not friendly to sinus suffers.
  8. Standing outside while the younger Ms. J rides early. In the shade but the sweat is running down my back. Currently one where I am in VA is 81/79. Have to keep taking off my sunglasses as they are fogging up. Bugs are unrelenting also which the horses hate.
  9. Flash flood warning just issued for it. 1-2” per 30 min.
  10. We heard that down here as well. Had no idea anything was even out there. Here it is from my back deck looking N.
  11. Flood watch canceled for over here. Getting some setting sun through the clouds. Got .21” today and .28” yesterday. Had some nice rumbles of thunder for a bit. I am fine with not a huge deluge as we had those issues back in May.
  12. While the older Ms. J is not down on Campus she still got an email about the tornado warning. Saying it was located over Howard U.
  13. You think that line that is building back near Winchester will hold into here? I was trying to understand why we were under the Severe T Storm watch and Flash Flooding watch. Am guessing for the potential for the second round up here?
  14. Light rain and thunder up here. Have 0.05” in the weather station.
  15. .28” out of that warned storm this afternoon.
  16. Direct center of the severe storm coming in here. Huge lightning strike just sent the cats running!
  17. Have a small patch of grass between the sidewalk and street. It had a number of dry bald spots from over the years that I had tried to do patch seed on with no success. So this past spring with the help of my FIL we dug up the strip hauled out a lot of clay and put some proper soil in. Rolled down 2 strips of sod and kept it watered. May was wonderful for it. But it has a new dead dry patch in it again. With all this humidity would be nice to get something out of it but we seem to be back to the no substantial rain July season over here.
  18. Midnight and the heat index is 83.
  19. Holy crap’olies looking at my PWS and while only 81 out the humidity is 84% with a dew point of 75.7
  20. Back to having the feeling like rain is imminent only to have nothing to show for it.
  21. Weird feel this morning. Sun is out but it feels like it is not. Caught what I believe is a remnant feeder band this morning on the way to the older Ms J’s pet drop in.
  22. First morning back on the deck for breakfast. A bit muggy but I will take the cooler temps, and in the shade on the backside of the house. Mr. J and I opted out of any fireworks last night. With both kids working pet sitting jobs we just stayed in. Good thing found out that one of our cats was not very happy with the “in" neighborhood mini display going off.
  23. Lovely day for a ride, or 2. Just as much as people are enjoying the nicer temps so are the horses. Have the younger Ms J down to exercise some ponies while hers is still on rest from an injury.
  24. 0.01” overnight. For the event .50”. I will take it after not having any measurable rain fall since June 28th.
  25. Just got news that the college the youngest Ms. J attends got hit last night by a really bad storm. Her campus is known for its beautiful landscape and to see all the big old trees downed is so sad. No damage to any buildings and no injuries. Other people in Carlisle are showing damage that they got as well. Flooding as well around town. Dickinson Storm Damage 06/30/25
