  1. From the Jones Family, yes that is what the J is for. Merry Christmas to you all!
  2. Squall line just got here. Rain blowing sideways.
  3. The Airing of grievances are going to be EPIC this year.
  4. I am always willing to share.
  5. If you leave it opened in your fridge for a very long time, yea you will have a science experiment. That being said jelly/jam does not last long here so only once did I ever find a jar that got shoved back in the fridge to turn into an experiment. On another note... Happy Winter Solstice! Or as Equestrians call it the start of getting our daylight back to ride!
  6. It was that storm along with the 2 in January that put us on the path to getting a new house with a garage. Mr. J grew up in the South and our old townhome had parking spots. Him and I digging out two cars three times was enough for him. And I grew up in OH where a garage was almost standard. And you used it to park your cars in. Found a townhome with a double car garage and he has been a happy camper.
  7. OH I am so sorry to hear this! Losing a pet under normal circumstances is hard, this has to be the worst. He will forever hold a place in your heart. Hugs to you and your family.
  8. So my daughter made these. OH MY they are so good!!! Thank you for the tip on the recipe.
  9. I will get the older Miss J on those as soon as school is done.
  10. I have a bag of chocolate chunks and a bag of butterscotch chips. Trolling the interwebs for recipes to combine both.
  11. Guess what Mrs J is making today for dinner.
  12. Well sent Mr. J out to the store tonight so we have enough food till next Monday now.
  13. Coming in here today and breaking up the snow party for just a bit to say the younger Miss J overcame her nerves and took the blue yesterday at her 2nd IEA show. IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) is a group that rewards horsemanship, skills and equitation. You are part of a team and compete individually. The riders get assigned a horse based on their ability. And they get up with no schooling and go in the ring cold. And do not get to use their own tack. Her first show last month she was assigned an Arab who she had trouble with in the canter. The only class she is in is the Walk Trot Canter HS division because she excels at Equitation. She is her teams Ace in the Hole because of her Eq, and she felt horrible that she let them and herself down due to her nerves. Well the horse she pulled yesterday was a forward moving Quarter Pony mare. And she nailed it! Super proud of her for pushing through and proving to herself that she is capable and a darn good rider with the skills to ride anything. Back to your regularly scheduled snow programming.
  14. We got one but the tree farm closed early on Wednesday as they needed to keep stock for next year. There are a few tree farms over in VA and there is a little local garden shop in Brunswick, MD that still has trees. Not sure if they have Frazier Firs or not.
  15. I just checked Carrot and it is showing Heavy snow (9-14") throughout the day. Precip chance 89% for my area.
  16. Ours have been open too. But if there is too much snow on the ground for them to drive in they will close. Which is why our new snow day policy was put in place during the pandemic. It usually is if school buildings are closed but central office is open no school day. Has been changed to if there is snow and the central office does not close due to it online classes will continue. If central office is closed due to snow it will be a snow day and no online classes. And yes they rarely ever close central office, but they had to put this out there so parents will know that a true snow day this school year will only be if central offices closes.
  17. Yea they are gearing up to start Hybrid on Jan 28th here start of second semester. Not an ideal time in my opinion to start up hybrid. But parents get the option to stay 100% virtual and that is the option we chose for our 9th and 11th graders. It will stay that way till the end of 3rd term and we will see where the metrics are over here. Currently all 24 of our jurisdictions are in the red. Defiantly a crazy year. A nice day of snow would mix things up.
  18. I am in Frederick Co MD. We are all virtual. We were told that if the central office is open and there is a snow day online learning will continue. If the central office closes there will be a snow day.
  19. Well after two years of no tree, was in FL last year and young cats the year before, we got a tree to put up. Actually realized I missed having it up. Had a bit of an oh crap moment when 3 out of 8 light strands decided to be 50/50 with working lights. But the tree ended up not being as full as I though my so 5 strands worked just fine. Cats were interested in it last night but it was not decorated. Will have to be on alert tonight with lights and shiny hanging things on it.
  20. I am so sorry to hear this news. As a parent myself my heart hurts for you. Those two small kids will help you through this. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts. *hugs*
  21. I just put together this big pot of veggie soup for dinner. Will add in some pasta before eating but oh it smells and tastes so good.
  22. The wind just kicked up big time, and the lights are flickering. And rain is coming in too.
