  1. The older and J’s first year in college, 3 years ago, she had to created a social media campaign about the life cycle of the lantern fly. It was to help people know what to look for and what to do when you see them. I forget what MD agency was running it. Anyways it was the first we had heard about them. Que last year and they were all over. The numbers have seemed to have gone down a bit this year from what we saw last year. Have heard that bats and praying mantises love them. So we have decided next year we are going to get some mantis eggs and spread them around.
  2. 79/74 with a dew of 70. Was out pulling weeds, only thing that is keeping green with our rain shut out here. Could feel the humidity but because it is partly cloudy the feels like temp is 82. Catio is still out with 2 out of 3 furballs enjoying it. Figured let them out as probably tomorrow it will be coming back inside.
  3. Absoutly glorious out watering the plants this morning. 76/61. The younger Ms. J was dropped off yesterday for a camp helper for pony camp. She hit the jackpot with this nicer weather. May even put the Catio out for the furballs.
  4. The difference coming into Frederick on 270. Sunny with scattered clouds. Meanwhile know what is just down South.
  5. Decided to get home. Flooding starting on Clara Barton. 495 is slow but moving.
  6. We are in NW. Moved our daughter into her apt today. Came out of the grocery store and it was pouring. Stopped her now but wondering how and when we want to head back to Frederick as that line is sitting right over the Beltway.
  7. Mr J spent his HS years in SE GA. While loading up the last of stuff to move to the oldest Ms J’s apartment he replies “I thought I moved out of the armpit zone.”
  8. Getting through NE Loudoun County out of MD was interesting this morning.
  9. The older Ms J and I just geeked out over spider cloud to cloud lightning
  10. I got under some back building from that Loudoun county storm. Picked up close to half an inch. Hope you finally get some up your way.
  11. Ok so a cell just popped up right over me. Heard thunder and did not think anything of it. It is raining!
  12. Just got split. We are catching the drizzle off of that storm that went into Loudoun county. But not enough to even register in my gauge.
  13. Went out to take a look at our looks like it could rain but… Anyways can actually hear thunder off of that one to my NW. Besides that thunder it is absolutely still quiet out. No birds, no breeze.
  14. And they are o’natural. She does not put anything on them. So you can literally just pick and eat if you want. She has 3 rows to wind through.
  15. If this muggy weather has done any good it is for the blackberries. Got back just before the sun started peaking out. We were told pick as much as you want. And wow we did. There were some we could not get to unless we wanted to get into the thick of it.
  16. Oh lovely. Myself and the two Ms. J’s are going to a friends house to pick Blackberries this morning. Guess my plan to get it done early was not the best planning. Will wait to shower when we get home.
  17. It really is interesting. As I sit over in VA currently at 8 at night because that is the only time during the day my kid can ride safely I sit here once again and look to the South and see the cloud tops that are just that too far away as the sweat runs down my back And the dust from the riding ring hangs in the air
  18. The stuff that builds to the West and you just know it will hit the mountains and go poof. It is the reason I have replaced most of my perennials with drought tolerant plants. My sedums have done amazing the last two years.
  19. So wanted to check into the rain and lack of rain here. May 2025 monthly total was 10.04" June 2025 monthly total was 5.36" July 2025 to date total is 1.03” July last year the monthly total was 1.25” and then August I had 7.67”. I have currently started noticing the tree line behind my house and some leaves are turning yellow. So even with all that rain we got in May the lack of a decent deluge between June 28th and today is showing. I am hoping that the rest of July we at least get something and that August ramps back up again. Mind you this is in my area in SW Frederick Co. I know just recently the NE side of the county had that day where a cell sat and just dumped rain. But the measurable rain in my area is really lacking.
  20. Flood Watch just ended for me. Dark clouds all around 78 with humidity of 88 and a dew point of 74.
  21. Yeah was looking at that. But it seems to be dissolving. These last few days have been all I-95 specials. I understand these storms are going to be wide spread. But having to deal with this humidity a nice downpour would be appreciated. We are obviously missing some part of the ingredients in this area.
  22. Sounds like I got the same as amount of rain as you. Had some thunder and thought without looking at radar we might get a decent soak. 0.02” and just a lot of clouds.
  23. While I can do without rains that cause flash flooding, I am hoping for some rain. Older Ms. J has been dealing with sinus headaches for the past 3-4 days. One even turned into a migraine. Being stuck in this pattern is not friendly to sinus suffers.
  24. Standing outside while the younger Ms. J rides early. In the shade but the sweat is running down my back. Currently one where I am in VA is 81/79. Have to keep taking off my sunglasses as they are fogging up. Bugs are unrelenting also which the horses hate.
  25. Flash flood warning just issued for it. 1-2” per 30 min.
