  1. Oldest kid down in DC at school asked me to send video so she could see the snow. She is missing out on this one.
  2. And it has started. Just heard the sirens for this as I am close. Horrible merge area. Everyone even in dry weather treats it as a speed ramp and not a merge. 7:17 am / VEHICLE ACCIDENT W / ROLLOVER / FREDERICK: @ RT340EB / RT15 (JEFFERSON): IAO TG: 9_DELTA Disp: RS20, M20, A209, E201, EB_ASGNMT3, A149, E141, WB_ASGNMT1, BAT903, EMS901 - Listen live at
  3. Snow has really picked up here now. Just got the text of the re-evaluating of the 2 hr delay. Schools are now closed for FCPS MD.
  4. We actually got a text from FCPS MD stating that they don’t have enough information yet to make any decision and will keep monitoring. Mind you we are the largest county and our northern boarder is the PA line. And the mountains cutting through diagonally Emmitsburg and Thurmont usually get hit harder and the entire county goes off of that. It is very possible we will get the 5 am text as start time is looking like 3 am. Bus drivers start runs just after 5 am. And believe me there will be people bitching about not having a night before call. The systems are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
  5. 50 and foggy up here in Frederick. FT’ing with the kid in DC she said it 66 and the skies look a bit more open with some sun peaking through.
  6. FCPS MD just pulled the trigger on tomorrow. 3 day weekend.
  7. Yep it is. The work from home was working for so many and then they got blindsided. He is an animator and his set up at home had worked for over 3 years. We have topped out our internet and he is hard wired in. He had to return back his equipment with this change, and we went out and got a new monitor for his laptop to run through. And a convertor hub to run everything through his laptop. He too said he is more productive at home and had more time to work not due to having to commute 270. They lost a lot of people due to early retirement or just finding work from home companies. He is begrudgingly doing it for now.
  8. This just happened at my husband's office. After this time last year saying you can choose your path of working. Told them that "we work better when we are together" without giving any stats, which ticked my husband off. He mainly works with people in the Austin, TX and Montreal office so literally goes in now to sit behind his computer and have meetings that he could be doing at home. He is required now to be in 3 days a week and two of them are Tuesday's and Wednesday's as those are "meeting" days. He is not going in today he decided. Said if they have a beef he can tell them he will just take a PTO day and not work at all. He is logged in now a half hour earlier than if he would have went in. Also he has a MX5 so that was not getting put on the roads today.
  9. 25 out. Did 3 measurements and got a solid 4.25". There is some light precip that looks to not be freezing rain or drizzle. Looks like pixie dust falling. Just cleared off the drive and that went fast as it was a dry snow.
  10. Yep. We had a scheduled teacher work day for end of term2/1st semester for final grades. Teachers just got notice they can do grading from home if they cannot get in. We have tomorrow off as well for a Professional day for teachers. My kid at AU also sent a message that campus is closed. And that professors will be in contact about online class if they choose. That will help as quite a lot of students who were to fly to get back to campus for the start of the Spring Semester today had canceled flights and won’t be able to get to campus by today.
  11. This is not a filter. This is how light it is outside my bedroom window. No one has any lights on the back of our townhouse row.
  12. Just looked at radar that is headed straight towards me. I am in Ballenger Creek.
  13. The oldest Ms J went back to AU campus last Friday. She was walking over to eat dinner and encountered several of these guys. First day of classes start tomorrow and I told her don’t be surprised if a snowball fight breaks out on the quad.
  14. 25 out. Light fairy dust falling. Dusting on the grassy surfaces but roads still pretty clear. You all won’t see Frederick Co MD school closings announced for tomorrow as we already have tomorrow and Wednesday off.
  15. 25 here. Very tiny flakes but enough to make roads dicey. Just got back from taking the kid to work on the NE side of Frederick. Took surface roads there but decided on 15 to get home. For now 15 is the best surface to drive on. The surface roads on the SW side of town where I live are down to one lane travel. Kids shift is done at 3 so will see what it ls like then.
  16. Heading out to take the kid to work. Going to brush off my Midwest snow driving skills. Aka leave early, take it slow and you will get to where you need to go. Oh and stay off of Rt. 15.
  17. Snow up here in Frederick now. Big fat flakes.
  18. 2.31" total for this system. The winds showed up around 7 this morning. My area is under a Flood Warning still because of the Monocacy River which is officially out of its banks as of this morning.
  19. 2.28” and just got issued a flood warning for my area. Ballenger Creek runs through the field behind my house. May step out on the deck to see if I can hear anything. To dark to see if the field.
  20. Was just going to say that myself. Had to go out to the local Giant for a new lighter. With the wind advisory out remembered ours ran out a day ago and if we need candles lit that would have been an issue. Yes on the rain though. I have my station set to alert me when it hits an inch. Looking back at the data there have been 10 events, that includes today of over an inch recorded. Rainfall so far today is at 1.10".
  21. Will have to follow you for when my oldest heads back to school this semester. Weather wise up here winds are defiantly blowing more from the NE as the front of our house faces E and the rain is hitting them pretty good. Up to .81" so far. And Mr. J headed my advice and came home just after lunch time so he would not get caught on 270 in the crappy weather.
  22. No you are not wrong. The old Superintendent messed that one up for sure. As for the second part I had the ability to pick my kids up. Many families did not, and some kids sat at their schools till 6pm. As for conditions up here now. Wind has picked up and light on the rain here so far with .71".
  23. I don't remember the exact dates but around Sept./Oct. of that year. I remember sitting in the HS parking lot at dismissal and while watching RadarScope saw a suspicious rotation pass over the football field. The parking lots full, cars were all over the main road in front of the school double parked. Probably the worst dismissal pick up ever with my kids in school. I live only 1/4 mile from the school, and it took us 20 min to get home.
  24. Parents in Frederick Co. remember this image from Fall 2021. We are more than fine with a 3 hr. early dismissal up here.
  25. FCPS MD just announced a 3 hr early dismissal. Just picked my youngest up, she only has one block at the HS this semester as she had dual enrollment. I am glad they did this though. The last time we had a system come through back in 2021 there were Elementary kids who took busses stranded at their schools due to flooding on the routes. Also don't think I would want my kid on a high profile cheese wagon in the projected winds.
