HRRR keeps us in play tomorrow...especially south of MDT.

Today is the first day MDT's normal high drops from 87 to 86 as the downward trend starts. MDT's low was a sweet 61 meaning they need to reach 93 today or they will add their surprisingly high 12th BN day of the month. HRRR does not have them reaching 90 but I would not bet any money on that. 3K has quite a few cells tomorrow.

I do see it here. It is a glorious day especially out of the sun. 83 for the high.

On the other side of the coin, including 2024 through yesterday, 4 of the last 5 years have been the 4 hottest years in MDT history. Whether HIA or CC, that is pretty indisputable that the temps around concrete jungle areas like MDT and WPT are being elevated in some manner.

MDT scored a 63 with is 5 below normal so another BN day coming up for the records unless MDT reaches 92/93. If it stays below 90 at MDT today. they will have reached 90 only one day of the last 10.

Thanks. I think I know them all... it is whether it will amount to a rebate for me or if it will only cancel out taxes owed. It says one thing, but my CPA explained it a different way. Between the two rebates the $5000 insulation cost will be down to $3000. I had 3 guys here for 24 total hours....if each are getting paid $20/hr that is $60x 24 or $1400 in man hour cost so I cannot complain about what they charged as I could not have done it. They paid at least $500 to dump the old insulation. It was over 500 pounds worth. Thanks for the info on the balloon, that is interesting. I have a damper, but it is old and does not work well so I have to shove a metal bar up into the chimney to open it. We have a propane burner in there so leave the damper open a bit just to be safe. Would have to close it if we ever needed that burner for an alternate heat source. I also have oil and have no interest in changing it as gas is not available here. Have a few rooms that are electric. They were added on after the house build. The problem with oil and bad weather situations, if the power goes out the oil is out as well so I lose both heat sources and am down to the propane fireplace.

54 this Am. Perfect temps for a good Ninja soak. Saw a jogger go by dressed like it was winter.

Thanks. We had one of those free blower tests done by the power company (West Penn Power here...First Energy company) and though I did not have weather stripping on the access door it tested pretty good which surprised me. The things that did not test good were having the damper on my fireplace open and some of the recessed lighting. I keep hearing conflicting info on the tax break for putting insultation in. The government site says it is not refundable, but my CPA says we can still apply it and get a refund so not sure. I got a $500 rebate from the power company as well. I am still out 3-4K after the rebates. We went from R19 to R49.

I just got mine this week. It took them 2.5 days to take out all the fiberglass batting, seal then blow in cellulose. Hoping for some returns now. It has been so "not hot" this week, hard to see any difference...plus it may be more of a winter savings than summer re: heat rises.

GFS, CMC and EC all still say no official heat wave until a week out. After Sunday, EC has no days above 86 @ 2PM for MDT until a week from today. I bet MDT does hit 90 on at least one of those days but 3 days in a row is not forecast by the 3 major Globals as this time. CMC is the closest with a possible mini–Heat Wave Sun-Tue before cooling down. If the CPC forecast were calling for extreme heat prior to Aug 1 or 2 they may adjust.

Dubois is at 4. WPT at way down at 8 and probably dropping out of the top 10 over the next 2 days. Unlike MDT and Dubois, WPT is not dominated by 2000's at the top.

MDT currently at the #3 slot for July all time Mean temps. The next two days should push it down to the ones below it (or close) but then next week may pull it back up again. I think #1 is out of reach now. 8 of the top 11 have taken place since 2000; Hot Box/HIA rules. MDT will probably score their 10th BN day of the month today and 11 looks do-able tomorrow.
